Girl changes circumstance of struggling elderly Door Dash driver
"I knew if that was my grandpa, I wouldn't want to see him working." That's the thought Annabelle had that made all the difference.

When someone is in their 70s and is still working, then you know that something is wrong.

This is what a woman from Idaho thought when she saw in the doorbell camera that an elderly man was doing her DoorDash delivery.

She saw that the man must be at an age he should be retired by now, especially when doing such a demanding job.

But retirement doesn’t always come easy.

21-year-old Annabelle Stephens felt sorry for the man and decided to post a video about it on social media.

“Honestly, it made me super sad. I knew if that was my grandpa, I wouldn’t want to see him working.”

She gave him a fat tip.

She was so touched by the man’s situation that she gave him a $30 tip on a $21 order.

Stephens was shocked by how many people the video reached and by all their responses.

As it turns out, this isn’t the only time we’ve seen an elderly person take on delivery jobs while struggling to make ends meet.

Not long ago, Inside Edition covered a similar story of an elderly struggling delivery driver who had his life turned around by a chance meeting with a customer.

Annabelle wanted to replicate that.

Many of people commented on the fact that elderly citizens should be taken better care of and not be obliged to work.

“We need to do better for our elderly,” someone wrote.

And Stephens knew she couldn’t just forget about this man and go on with her life.

She knew she had to help.

So, she tracked him down.

Annabelle managed to get his contact details and call him personally.

“Kerry and I chatted on the phone this morning and I asked him to explain a little about himself,” the woman wrote in the GoFundMe page she started.

During their phone call, the man, whose name is Kerry Judd, explained that he is 71 and still needs to work because he is still caring for his two older children.

Door Dash isn’t his only job.

Having lost his wife in 2011, he needs to work two jobs to make ends meet. Besides being a DoorDash delivery driver, he is also a security guard.

Both jobs are demanding, and he admitted to struggling sometimes.

While Stephens hinted that there is more to Judd’s story, she made it clear that the man is very private and doesn’t want any more details about his life to go public.

Still, he is an elderly citizen needing help, and the woman started a GoFundMe page to help him raise enough money to be able to at least quit one of his jobs.

And so far it’s going great.

She’s already raised more than $100k.

If donations keep coming, the goal will soon be reached.

She didn’t stop with donations.

Stephens and Judd didn’t limit to a phone call, the young woman also invited her new friend to dinner.

As she said, Judd is funny and sweet, and there’s no doubt the two of them enjoyed their dinner together.

The fun fact she shared was that Kerry told her that the house she’s not living at is possibly the one he used to take his son to a babysitter at. Isn’t it a small world we live in!
