Who doesn’t know the famous American actor and humanitarian, Gary Sinise?

Sinise played many unforgettable roles.

He played detective Shaker in the movie Ransom. Sinise won a Golden Globe for his role in Apollo 13 as Ken Mattingly.

He also played Harry S. Truman in the movie Truman. And who would forget his role in Forrest Gump, where he played Lieutenant Dan Taylor.

Gary Sinise is clearly an outstanding actor, but did you know that apart from his movies and other projects, he is also busy with his foundation?

The Gary Sinise Foundation

It is a charity and also a veteran’s service organization that offers different services and programs for our beloved veterans.

Over the years, the Gary Sinise Foundation has grown so much. With the help of 100,000 donors, they can help hundreds of veterans.

According to their website, the foundation has raised $282 million in the 10 years since its inception.

They put the money to good use

They have a feeding program, a housing program, and so much more.

He respects and honors our veterans.

Aside from all the charity work, Sinise is also known to pay tribute to veterans who pass away.

Just last May 2021, Sinise posted a final goodbye to a hero – a wounded Vietnam veteran named Jim Sursely.

“A tremendous American who was an inspiration to our younger wounded Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. A great mentor,” Sinise posted in his Instagram account.

That same month, he also dedicated a post to a former NFL player, Pat Tillman.

“Post 9/11 attacks 20 years ago, left his career in the NFL to join the US Army Rangers. He lost his life in Afghanistan April 22, 2004,” he said in his post.

On January 5th, Sinise posted again.

It was a heartfelt tribute to a man who was truly an American hero.

The whole country was saddened by the news that Lawrence Brooks, the oldest living WW II veteran, had died at the age of 112 years old.

Looking back, Lawrence Brooks was born on September 12, 1909.

He was raised in a big happy family, and he had 14 siblings.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to attend school because their home was too far away from the nearest school.

He learned to read and write at home.

He was a proud member of the primarily African American division. It was the 91st Division where he was called into service.

He was 31 at the time.

After WWII, he went home and started working as a forklift driver.

Brooks retired at the age of 70 and already had five children.

Then, on January 5th of this year, Brooks passed away.

“Here we are at National WWII Museum in New Orleans when he was 106 years old. He certainly had an incredible long life. God bless you sir. An honor to know you. Rest In Peace,” said Sinise in his tribute post.

Like Sinise, we are saddened by the passing of this hero.

His legacy will be remembered, and his country will forever be grateful for his bravery and sacrifice.

Lawrence Brooks will forever be an American hero.
