Good Morning America initiated a surprise treat for moms all over the country.
They asked their audience to nominate a mother who deserved a big surprise on Mother’s Day.
There were thousands of entries from husbands, children, friends, and communities, but one stood out best.
Brook Garrison from Darlington, Wisconsin, wrote all her praises for her mother, Karen.
She said her mom was her best friend and has been her rock, especially when she was bullied as a teenager.
Karen made her believe in herself and gain the confidence she needed.
Her son, Garth, also appreciated how she was always a present mother.
Being on the track team, his mother’s presence in the crowd was very important to him.
She never missed a game or school presentation for her children, and we all know how important being a present parent is to a child’s upbringing.
Not only that, but Karen was also a mom to other kids in school and their community, and she did so quietly.
She picks up her senior clients at the hair salon if they can’t drive.
When her friend’s son had to have his car repaired, she paid for it discreetly, not wanting any attention or credit.
This shows how Karen shows unconditional love not only to her kids but to those around her.
GMA’s Rachel Smith and the rest of their crew were there to surprise Karen.
It wasn’t even a minute after Rachel knocked on their door that Karen was crying.
You can tell that this meant a lot to her, especially since she never believed Brook when she told her she sent an entry to GMA.
But there they were – happy tears and all – to celebrate what an excellent mother Karen is.
But the big surprise was waiting for her outside!
The Darlington High School Marching Band and Cheering Squad were in their yard along with close family and friends of the Garrisons.
They all cheered and celebrated Karen that day, and it’s heartwarming to see how well-loved she is.
Here’s the bigger surprise: country superstar (and Karen’s ultimate idol) Garth Brooks snuck up and gave the mom a big hug!
She was so surprised to see him, and Garth gave her the warmest hugs.
Brook said her mom is such a fan that she bought two copies of every Garth Brooks record, so she has an extra if the other one breaks down.
And have you noticed something in her kids’ names? Yep, she named them after Garth Brooks!
Garth had a show in Nebraska the previous night and flew to Wisconsin for this surprise.
He also sang an acoustic version of his 2014 hit song ‘Mom’ to honor Karen and all the mothers in the crowd.
But here’s one more surprise Karen and her family didn’t see coming!
After performing, Garth invited them to fly back with him and watch his show live!
He said he talked to Karen’s husband about this plan and was all up for it.
They were so surprised; they ran out of words! Knowing everything about Karen, we can all agree that she deserves this.
