Dads are any girl’s best guy friend. He is the first and constant male presence in her life.
She is his forever princess come what may. And when the day comes that his little girl decides to marry someone, it is both the best and saddest day for any father.
Well this dad found a way to make the most of the wedding.
He gave a speech. And it is downright hilarious!
This father of the bride is a natural with the microphone.
His delivery comical and always on point, he got all their guests laughing without even trying.
Us guys know how much of a challenge it is to win any girl’s family. Especially dad.
Well this father certainly approves of his new son-in-law, Nick. Dad loves him so much that Nick got a bit of a roast.
His daughter Nicole, watches on and listens, perhaps a little nervous as to what good old dad would say.
Dad’s got the microphone and the spotlight now and everyone’s at his mercy.
He starts off by narrating a day they had on the beach, and how he and his wife watched Nick and Nicole splash about happily like only true lovers do. He turned to his wife and said,
“She’s gonna’ marry that boy.”
A collective awww followed by heartfelt applause rose from the guests with that line.
Not a bad start!
And as that particular day ended, the family had a few cocktails and hors d’oeuvres just to cap it off before getting ready for bed. Now dad and mom were getting ready to sleep themselves.
That’s when their bedroom door opened, and a drunk Nick appeared.
The guy took a wrong turn, mistaking that door for the hallway bathroom. It’s amazing what a night out in the city can do to a guy. They produce the best stories every single time.
Dad says Nick, “staggered by our bed on his way to our bathroom.”
Now Nicole looks horrified.
Dad continues with the story. He and his wife lay there stunned and fearing for what would come next from the drunk Nick.
“Our worst fears were realized as Nick emerged from the bathroom and proceeded to get in to bed with us.”
Well that’s awkward…
Dad pauses for awhile, allowing everybody in that room to stare at Nick, cheering and clapping the now red-faced groom.
Dad’s wife, Sue, moved over to give Nick more room. She’s very accommodating apparently.
And that’s a huge bed if you think about it. He asked his wife to get Nick out of the room but Sue refused saying, “His thing might be out.”
What’s a guy to do? Dad guides Nick back to his room, and as he comes back, he locks the door behind him saying he always does so now even when there’s no one in the house.
Nick’s just a tomato right now.
And as dad got back in bed, he turned to his wife and said,
“She’s gonna’ marry that boy??”
Punchline! Good one, dad!
Now that he’s roasted Nick, dad turns to the more serious part of his speech.
He praises both families, pouring out his love for his daughter, and just grants them his blessings once again.
He’s got a knack for speaking. The pacing, the delivery, and the way he organized the content was fantastic.
Dad’s got that ability to capture an audience’s attention. And he’s a sweet guy.
