For many boyfriends and girlfriends, planning a marriage proposal is one of the biggest, most daunting moments in life.

If you were ever in the position to propose, you probably thought long and hard about how to do it – and how it’d turn out.

Hopefully, if you’re proposing to the right person, there’s no doubt that their answer will be “yes”.

But there’s so much pressure on proposals nowadays that people often feel like they have to make the “perfect” proposal – one that’ll be remembered for the rest of their partner’s life, for all the right reasons.

When Josmar Taveras started planning to propose to his girlfriend Alodie, he probably had a lot of concerns.

Would he say the right things? Would she like the ring? Did she feel as ready to be his wife as he felt ready to be her husband?

But of all the racing thoughts he had in the run-up to the big moment, he probably never for one second worried about Alodie failing to notice his proposal.

Unfortunately, Josmar picked the wrong time to get down on one knee: during a very important dance-off.

Speaking in an interview to HumanKind, Alodie explained:

“I can’t let my kid six-year-old sister beat me at ‘Let it Go’ on ‘Just Dance’ or we’re going to have bigger problems.”

That’s right – Alodie and her sister, Zoe, were locked in an intense dance battle to the “Frozen” hit, “Let It Go”.

Not one to stand by and let her younger sister win by default, Alodie was putting her all into her performance – so much so that she was completely unaware of Josmar, right behind her, on one knee.

Talk about dragging out the suspense!

Throughout the whole song, Alodie’s focus remained solely on pulling off her dance moves. She even spun a couple of times, somehow missing Josmar in her line of vision.

He must have been feeling the nerves by this point, but Josmar could see the humor in the situation, and grinned and waved his open ring box at the camera.

Kudos to Josmar, he didn’t give in.

He was probably getting a sore knee from all that kneeling by the time the dance finally finished – and even then, Alodie was too busy shaking her younger sister’s hand in congratulations for doing a good job.

Only then did Alodie finally turn around, and it’s obvious from her reaction that she genuinely had no idea she was being proposed to until that moment.

Now there’s the response Josmar had been waiting for!

You never quite know how you’ll react to a proposal until it happens to you. In Alodie’s case, she ended up on the floor, simultaneously crying and laughing.

After a soothing pat on the shoulder from a slightly concerned-looking Josmar, Alodie somehow managed to pull her now-fiance into a hug. And the first words out of little sister Zoe’s mouth?

“But who won?”

Gotta love children.

Statistics suggest that 93% of women say “yes” when they’re proposed to – but most of them probably don’t take as long as Alodie to realize their partners are down on one knee!
