It may be difficult to admit, but bad people are all over the world. And what’s even scarier is that they will go after anyone, even little boys who are just trying their best to earn their own money for their goals.
Young Jeremy Ryzhonkov built a lemonade stand on the streets of Everett, Washington.
The 12-year-old was manning his stand when a man he doesn’t recognize approached him. Thinking that he was about to have a new customer, young Jeremy welcomed his presence and prepared to serve him.
The mystery man asked for drinks worth $15. He then said that he only had a $100 bill. The innocent boy received the bill and gave $85 as a change to the man’s payment.
When the man left, Jeremy found something odd about the bill that the man paid.
“The numbers looked different on each color and the hundred dollar bill was smaller and the color was kind of different,” the boy told King 5 News.
The boy could not shake off the feeling that the bill looked strange so he ran to the nearest gasoline station to ask for help and confirm if the bill was not a fake.
“I asked is it real or fake and he said it’s not real.”
The young boy’s world shattered for a moment when his fears came true.
The worker at the gas station called the police and shared what happened to Jeremy. The cops are now looking for the said con man.
Jeremy was devastated by the sad turn of events.
“Very exhausted from working all day on a sunny day and felt very sad and disappointed,” he shared.
Jeremy was selling lemonade and snacks for good reasons.
Half of his earnings are for his spending and for his other businesses. The other half goes to his fund for helping victims of war in Ukraine.
He may have been saddened by what happened that day, but he did not give up and returned to sell snacks and lemonade for a cause.
People in the community were not happy with what happened and are now looking to prevent another episode of what happened.
They have shared a marker for Jeremy to use so he can detect counterfeit money. They also are buying his snacks so he can back the money he lost because of the con man.
One neighbor even set up a GoFundMe page for Jeremy, touched by his selflessness and kind heart. As of this writing, the page has earned $25,850! That is definitely more than what he lost and would make up for his goal of helping war victims in Ukraine.
On the other hand, the culprit still roams free.
It was a great thing that Jeremy now has made up for the money he lost to the con man, but the perpetrator is still out there. The police are working hard to catch the man who played a dirty trick on an honest boy who only wanted to help others in need.
