Parenting is quite an adventure. There’s that warm, fuzzy feeling upon finding out you’re expecting, followed by the building excitement as the mother’s last trimester of pregnancy nears its end. Once the baby is born, the parents’ worlds are turned upside down in the best possible way. Sure, you’ll lose sleep. You’ll forget your needs and won’t even have the time (or energy!) to keep up with your social commitments.
But once the baby looks up at you and smiles or sighs contentedly in their sleep as you stand there admiring them, you’ll realize just how unique each moment is, how time is fleeting, and how your life is changed forever.
Everyone knows taking care of kids is no walk in the park. It’s not for the weak, and it requires a lot of patience, commitment, and most importantly, love – lots and lots of it. That’s where the value of genuine support comes in. Words of encouragement, a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on, all these things can do so much for a parent.
Just like what one kind-hearted stranger did for three foster parents at a restaurant.
Haylee Robuck, Kayla Miller, and Brittney Ward took their kids to eat one evening at Toot’s West in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Between the three moms, there was a total of 25 kids.
New on the job, waiter Adrian Maddox initially thought of how big the cleanup would be after the big group leaves. But something snapped him out of dwelling on that thought and left him stunned – in the best possible way.
As the moms were discussing their stories on foster parenting and sharing experiences, there was a stranger who couldn’t help but overhear.
The stranger must have been in such awe at the efforts of the moms to give all these kids happy homes that she decided to take care of the bill.
Haylee still couldn’t believe it. She told WSMV 4,
“It’s not often that that happens, let alone when you have a party so big and so obnoxious. We took up three tables, and two of the three tables had kids on kids all over it.”
Kayla added,
“They assumed that we were doing good, and they paid that forward. So, I am sure, at some point, we will do that to another family.”
Still not over what happened during his shift, Adrian shared how amazed he was that a stranger would take the time to do something so generous simply out of the goodness of their heart.
It takes a lot of love and compassion for a person to commit to foster parenting. More than the enormous responsibility of raising kids right, one has to ensure that all their needs are met – this is never easy. That’s why we take our hats off to these three moms and all the foster parents who lovingly and patiently open their hearts and homes to children who need and deserve to be part of happy families.
