Taylor Swift is known as “America’s Sweetheart”, and it seems she’s living up to the moniker.
Last week, in an incredible act of kindness, Swift invited 2,200 foster kids to a free sneak peek of her Reputation Stadium tour. Afterward, she held a pizza party where she met and socialized with her smallest fans.
For the past little while, Swift has been working non-stop in preparation for her “Reputation” tour, which was scheduled to begin on May 8th in Glendale, Arizona. Last week, as Swift and her crew were preparing for the final dress rehearsal before setting out on tour, she decided to do something special.
Swift wanted to use the dress rehearsal as an opportunity to hold a free concert; however, she wanted her audience to be comprised of people who normally wouldn’t get to attend the types of events. In the end, she chose foster children.
Ken Tram, a father who attended the concert, explained that Swift sent an e-mail to the Arizona Association for Foster and Adoptive Parents (AAFAP), informing them that she had a few thousand free tickets to give away. AAFAP then notified the families, and interested children claimed their seats.
On the day of the concert, the foster children and their families were treated to free water, candy, and brownies as they became the first people to hear Swift’s tour line-up.
At the end of the concert, Swift had another surprise waiting. She had teamed up with Papa John’s to organize a pizza party where she ate food and mingled with her guests.
On Instagram, parents who attended wrote:
“She [Taylor] was such a gracious and generous hostess… complete with a pizza party and photo op afterward.”
“I don’t even know what to say… literally the best night of our lives! […] She performed her entire tour set (a full 2-hour concert) and then afterwards she bought everyone pizza and desserts, and we got to hug her and take a picture with her!”
“I feel like the whole night was a dream, but all I have to say is Taylor Swift, you are one of the most genuine and kind human beings ever!”
As if that wasn’t enough, the singer took it one step further.
When Taylor heard one of the young invitees was unable to attend due to being hospitalized, Taylor decided to make a little visit herself!
Isabella McCune, 9, is a Swift fan who was badly burned in a fire pit explosion. While she’s been recovering in the hospital, Isabella listens to Swift’s music to help her pass the time and cope. When the little girl heard about Taylor’s concert, she was heartbroken she wouldn’t be able to attend.
Isabella’s family made a video asking Swift to come visit while she was in town. When Swift caught wind of the recording, she knew she couldn’t say no.
Swift surprised Isabella by showing up at the hospital unannounced and spending about 20 minutes while she chatted, signed autographs, and presented the girl with merchandise from her tour.
“Taylor took time out of her busy, busy schedule and sat down on the bed next to Isabella,” Lily McCune, Isabella’s mother, told PEOPLE.
“She brought a bag of goodies from her tour. She said she had to meet her because she was so inspired by her story and honored that her music helped her.”
Although Isabella is not yet healthy enough to attend Taylor’s tour, Lily said, “Taylor extended an invitation for her to come to a show whenever she’s ready.”
Unlike most celebrities who do these types of good deeds, Taylor has been keeping quiet about the whole ordeal. She seems extremely humble, doing these actions for the good of them— not for the praise. Let Taylor be an inspiration to other celebrities to appreciate their littlest fans!
