The Fort Worth Police Department is HIRING!
And in this modern age of technology and social media, creating a recruitment video makes so much more sense than just posting on job ad boards or job placement websites. But they needed to create a video that would catch the attention of people.
They needed to create a video that was full of humor, attention-grabbing, fun to watch, and still had all the information the potential hire needed to know.
Challenge accepted!
First, they needed an engaging and entertaining spokesperson and they found that in Officer Big B.
Next, Officer Big B needed a script that matched his energy and wasn’t just bullet points of what they needed to say. They needed an able person to shoot the video professionally and edit the video.
We wonder if they hired someone to do that part so they can just focus on the content.
That’s a great move on their part if they did, outsourcing what you can’t do and focusing on what you can. That’s a great lesson for newbies and starting content creators out there.
Ready, set, ACTION!
Officer Big B gets straight to the point as soon as the camera starts rolling. Plus the other police officers were willing to be stand-in models to highlight the different departments and responsibilities.
And they brought out the big guns!
They brought the big patrol units, which included an F-150 pick-up! Plus there’s the SWAT team (with their tough SWAT vehicle) that keeps on ticking. Or maybe you want horsepower? Yes, you got that right. They’ve got mounties.
Or maybe you’d like to catch the bad guys or support the good ones on two wheels.
They’ve got motorcycles for the road and offroad and they even have bicycles when “the only footprint you want to leave is on the pedal.”
The video went viral and got around 1 million views on their Facebook and YouTube accounts. This helped them receive hundreds of applications to hire new officers.
Buddy “Officer Big B” Calzada, who joined the force five years ago, was ecstatic to do the video.
“I absolutely love going out and smiling,” Officer Big B told WFAA. “I love connecting with the community.”
He joined the police force because he wanted to protect the community.
Officer Calzada was already serving their local community through the non-profit he had founded with his wife. But it didn’t really give them the stable salary and affordable health care they needed for their family.
He was prepared to do whatever he can for his community, including encouraging more citizens to become protectors as well.
Officer Calzada wasn’t officially part of the recruitment team in the department but he was glad to be part of this recruitment project. He and the team plus media specialists worked day and night for the success of this project.
They need to do this since they need to hire 72 new openings for officers, which was recently approved by the Fort Worth council members.
