It's 5 o'clock somewhere, right?

You know the saying, “It’s 5 o’clock somewhere”? Yeah, well beloved cook Ina Garten really took that to heart recently, when she made a boozy cocktail at 9:30 a.m.

Sometimes you just have one of those days, you know? It’s not every day that we wake up and think, “Man, coffee is just not going to do it right now. I need vodka,” but then again, maybe it’s actually more common than we think. We do have delicious and boozy brunch drinks after all.

If we can enjoy beverages like bloody maries and mimosas bright and early, then we see no problem with Ms. Garten whipping up a slightly fancier concoction right after rolling out of bed.

Garten is a famous personality who has been making wonderful food and drinks for many years now. People all over the world love her and her carefree, calm spirit. She’s the star of Food Network’s Barefoot Contessa and she also has several of her own cookbooks to offer.

She is even killing it on Instagram, with nearly 3 million followers! (We’re not even surprised though, she is so loveable.)

Many of her Instagram posts are exciting, but it was when she decided to make a 9:30 a.m. cocktail that she really caught the eye of everyone on the internet.

Obviously, she just gained a lot more respect from people, too. This is a pretty baller move! Tons of people praised her for deciding to have such an early happy hour.

If we’re being honest, this is the only one true way to quarantine properly. If you’re not making cocktails before noon, you’re doing it wrong. Garten is queen.

Garten argues that time is insignificant right now. “It’s always cocktail hour in a crisis!” She wrote hilariously in the caption.

“During these stressful times, it’s important to keep traditions alive,” Garten explained in the beginning of the video. “My favorite tradition is the cocktail hour, so I’m going to make you my favorite Cosmopolitan, and you probably have all the ingredients in your house.”

What we love even more about this recipe is that it is quarantine friendly! She chose ingredients that people would already be likely to have on hand, since going out and getting to the grocery store felt like such a daunting and unsafe task.

“You need a big pitcher (because I like to make a lot of Cosmos and you never know who’s gonna stop by), two cups of vodka (good vodka). Next is one cup of Cointreau (or triple sec, any kind of orange liquor), one cup of cranberry juice cocktail, and have a cup of freshly squeezed lime juice (it’s gotta be freshly squeezed, very important),” she explained.

“I mean, how easy is this?” Garten said afterward, with a big smile on her face.

How can you not love her after watching this?! She seems to be so happy making her cocktail, you can’t help but smile while you watch.

After Garten pours all of the elements into the pitcher, she has a big cocktail shaker on deck and ready to go. It is filled halfway with ice.

Then she poured the mixture into the shaker and urged viewers to shake for thirty seconds.

“You have lots of time, it’s not a problem,” she laughed. Dang, she is right.

“During a crisis, cocktail hour can be almost any hour,” she said as she shook the shaker.
