For some people, traveling can cause major stress and anxiety.
If you’ve never flown a plane, for example, it can be nerve-wracking to take flight for the first time. Of course, laughter is always the best medicine (and a great cure for settling nerves), and one flight attendant knew exactly how to lighten the vibe.
One Southwest plane was treated to a comedy show prior to flying to their destination. Hats off to their creativity!
This is a pre-takeoff safety speech that took place on a flight to Islip, New York – and it had everyone cracking up.
The video begins with a Southwest flight attendant named Robert introducing the crew, but then he gets right down to business. Now if you’ve flown, you know this part is important. So pay attention.
Ready for a seatbelt demonstration spiced up with dry humor? He tells the passengers:
“…in the event you have not been in an automobile since 1942, we’re going to show you how to fasten a seatbelt, watch closely. Do this.”
Robert then kicks it up a notch by explaining they need to have their seatbelts “low and tight” across their hips – similar to the hot pink Speedo he’ll be wearing later that night…
The flight attendant gives instructions on the life vest, all in the “unlikely event” the captain turns their flight into a cruise. He reminds them that it’s not a toilet seat cover, and if they’re looking for the crew in the water – they’ll be the ones “toting that liquor kit.”
While Robert’s giving his speech the other flight attendant acts as the demonstrator.
It’s a wonder he’s able to keep his composure!
You shouldn’t smoke on a plane, but these passengers got a comical reminder.
If they have a cigarette during the flight – there are two “entertainment lounges” on the plane, one on the left wing and the other on the right. But while they’re trying to smoke, everyone else will be watching Gone with the Wind and Bye Bye Birdie.
He says:
“Very simple, very easy, don’t be naughty in the potties and leave the webcam alone in there…”
There’s so much more to this funny safety speech, but just wait until you hear what he has to say about the oxygen masks!
According to Yahoo! News, Robert’s been a flight attendant for Southwest since 2005 – and unsurprisingly, these aren’t the only passengers he’s made laugh. In the video, he ends his instructions with a song set to the classic Barney tune:
“We love you. You love us. We’re much faster than the bus. We hope you enjoy our hospitality, marry one of us and you’d fly free.”
Thanks to one traveler, everybody online got to see and hear this creative take on pre-flight checks.
In the video’s description it says:
“I was coming back home on a Southwest flight when I discovered I had one of the funniest flight attendants on board with me. It was one of the best flights I have ever been on!”
While not all of us will have the chance to be on one of Robert’s flights – Southwest is known for having warm and friendly crews. On their Facebook page they share that they offer:
“…Low Fares, Customer Service, free pretzels and soft drinks, Funny Flight Attendants, and FUN.”
Sounds good to me! Can you imagine what their holiday parties are like?
This guy deserves an award! Watch the hilarious speech in the video below.
