This last year has been a challenge for all the world, as the COVID-19 spread throughout our globe, bringing the people and the institutions to their knees.

The important thing to remember is, of course, that people are still here and trying to survive as well as they can without letting these hard times demotivate them.

Therefore, there is nothing better and more inspiring than seeing people making the best out of this “dark” situation, singing, and thanking other people for their help.

The message of this story today could be that really we are all in this together!

Today’s story is one of those that aim to spread hope and light to the world during these trying times. Meet the Fijian rugby team, The Kaiviti Silktails, a semi-professional team that traveled to Sydney, Australia, to play in the Ron Massey Cup.

Unfortunately, the team had to quarantine at Sofitel Wentworth Hotel in Sydney for a two-week isolation period, as the health security measures dictated.

However, on their last day at the Hotel, the team decided to thank the hotel staff for their services and help during their stay. So, what do you think they did?

Costa Argyrous, a hotelier from Fiji who traveled with the Kaiviti Silktails, caught the whole thing on his camera! The Rugby members, each from their own room balcony, started singing emotionally the traditional hymn “Mo Ravi Vei Jisu”.

The performance was actually really beautiful and the acoustics were amazing due to the amphitheater-like architecture of the hotel.

As you can see the room balconies were forming a semi-circle.

“It was magnificent… I was totally unaware this was going to happen,” said Argyrous.

The Hymn they decided and performed, the “Mo Ravi Vei Jisu” roughly translates as “Put your trust into the Lord and he will guide your way”. What a beautiful gesture by the rugby players that makes you believe that kindness once given can always be returned!

According to Argyrous many people that were present at that moment in the hotel and from the streets around rushed to witness this beautiful and moving performance.

“I’m so proud of them the way they performed and behaved”, said Argyrous as a fellow Fijian and fellow-human!

The team will now have to stay in Australia for the next seven months as they are expected to participate in the Massey Cup. The team will be returning to Fiji if everything goes well around October.

It is actually a great honor for this little Fijian team as it’s the first time ever a Fijian rugby team competes in this division!

It’s so beautiful when you see people and especially athletes to honor their country in such a way, especially outside their competitions and their games. It is really spectacular as you can see the great respect they have for each other and the other people too.

Undoubtedly, this heartwarming gesture by the team will stay with the hotel staff for the rest of their days.

Watch the beautiful performance of gratitude below.
