A real-life hero doesn’t wear a cape.
Thanks to the FedEx guy who responded right away upon noticing that something is burning around the neighborhood, a crisis was averted. He was just delivering a package in the area, like any typical day.

He didn’t hesitate to help and respond to an emergency situation. He does this act of kindness to homeowners whom he doesn’t know.
The homeowners, needless to say, are quite grateful to him for acting fast and saving the day.
Jason Sloan is the hero of this story. He leaps from his truck and hurries to save the house of strangers.

He works as a FedEx driver. On Veteran’s Day, he fills in for a coworker in the Los Angeles area. However, he doesn’t expect to see a cloud of smoke coming from the backyard in one of the houses he’s driving past. He’s sure there’s something wrong, so he rushes to the area to respond.
Albert and Selena Rios are the homeowners, who were at work when the fire incident happened.

Jason’s easy solution would be to call 911 and wait for the firemen to handle the situation.
But, when he sees a hose and faucet in the front yard, he handles the situation immediately.
Jason asks the neighbors to check if the homeowners are around, but nobody is answering the door. Having the need to respond right away before matters worsen, he uses the hose to put out the smoke.

The neighbor has a doorbell camera that has captured Jason’s heroic act at that moment.
Grabbing the hose, he aims water behind the fence.
A couple of trashcans are nearby. Jason makes use of those as a pedestal to see clearly what’s happening in the backyard and successfully put out the flames.
Albert has learned from the neighbors that his yard was on fire, so he goes straight home. Fortunately, by the time that he arrives, Jason has already put out the fire. The FedEx driver’s identity remains a mystery to him.

Celena recalls her neighbors’ responses regarding the situation:
“Every single neighbor was like, ‘The FedEx guy is a hero. Like, he really acted out of nowhere.'”- Celena tells Inside Edition
This heroic story gets Inside Edition’s attention. It is only by then that the Rios family met Jason Sloan, and they meet to thank him in person.

Celena expresses how grateful she is for what the FedEx driver has done:
“We really want to thank you for what you did for us, you know, potentially saved our home.”
Jason shows humility and simply responds:
“I feel great. I feel good. At the same time, I’m just happy their house didn’t get burned down.”

Something serious could have happened if nobody has taken action.
It’s a good thing that Jason’s kind enough to intervene beyond his call of duty.
The backyard fire in the Rios family home might have spread to other gardens and backyards. Probably, it could lead to a more serious situation if the flames were not put out right at once. Los Angeles is known for wildfires.
There is about 10 to 15 percent of wildfires happen on their own in nature. They have been classed as natural disasters by the Environmental Protection Agency.

It is human-related causes that comprise 85 to 90 percent of these fires.
However, it’s not clear how the fire started in Rios’ backyard.
Jason has really saved the day and prevented the problem from getting out of control by handling an emergency situation immediately. The people just admire his good act: they say he deserves a pay raise or perhaps have his employer formally recognize his heroic deed.
