Father-daughter relationships are precious and essential.
A strong bond between father and daughter has many positive impacts on his daughter’s life, including mental health, social and relational skills, and academics.
Fathers also become a gold standard in their daughter’s outlook.
Most father’s set the standard for a child’s career prospects, including their self-confidence and assertiveness in what they do. How the father treats a child’s mother sets the bar high for their daughter’s future romantic relationship.
Unfortunately, the father’s absence is one of the prevalent problems in society today.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 1 out of 4 children lives without a father. Others have fathers who are physically present (living at home) but are emotionally absent. The impact of a father’s presence or absence is on the extremes.
Hence, it is important for a father also to be involved in their daughter’s life.
From their conception to birth, from carrying them and teaching them how to walk, their first words. A father molds their child’s entire being by simply being there.
As for this dad in Pennsylvania, he’ll be there even if it means performing ballet with them.
Russ Papparotto performed an Adagio Partnering to the song “Cinderella” by Steven Curtis Chapman. He danced along with his three daughters: Sophia (6), Brianna (12), and Sioned (20).
This performance of their really stirs up the emotions.
The story told through their performance fits perfectly well. The song tells a father’s story and how he remembered the times his daughter asked him to teach her how to dance: from a fairytale ball to the prom, and lastly – her wedding.
First, the 6-year-old Sophia went on stage.
Her father joined her in a few moments and started dancing together when the song’s lyrics went, “She’s pulling at me saying ‘Dad, I need you.’.”
The crowd applauded when Russ lifted Sophia and turned as they exited the stage.
Then, Brianna moved her way to the stage, this time dancing to the second verse of the song.
Another thundering applause filled the room when he lifted Brianna, and she bent backward and back to her father’s arms. Such flexibility.
During the song’s bridge, Sioned motioned to the floor, completing the story of their dance.
Russ, once again, lifted his daughter with ease and grace.
Like a father both not wanting to (but need to) let go of a daughter he once held so dear as the song suggests, Russ performed with all three daughters with so much love and power.
The number ended with Russ and his three daughters all holding onto him.
The performance moved the audience simply because it is such a lovely sight to see for a father to perform with his daughters. You can feel the love on stage, with the daughters’ smiles, the cheers and applause of the audience, and the pride in Russ’s face.
