Can you imagine how your life would change if you could no longer run, walk, or even stand?
What if one minute you were helping a neighbor, and the next thing you knew happened was that there was an explosion and you were seriously injured?
For one man, he didn’t have to imagine as this is exactly what happened when welding a water tank on his neighbors property.
The men were working on a water tank in March of 2021 when, due to a mixture of rust and melted snow, the tank exploded so viciously it could be heard over a mile away.
Both men could have been killed if they had been in the wrong position when the tank exploded but luckily that did not happen, the only injury was to one of the men’s legs.
Dallas Christensen, a lineman by trade, was knocked back by the explosion and his femur was broken while his tibia and fibula were both shattered.
Immediately after the incident, Dallas knew that there was something wrong as he could feel his pant leg filling up with blood.
He removed his belt and tightened it like a tourniquet around his injured leg.
By doing this, doctors believe that Dallas saved himself from bleeding out.
He had surgery to repair his femur but there were many complications with the healing process and he still had the injuries to his tibia and fibula to deal with.
13 surgeries and a life threatening infection later and Dallas is finally starting to recover.
Throughout the whole ordeal, Dallas was supported by is wife Becci and their 6 children.
Then to add to the difficulties the Christensen family was already facing, one of their children, Marshall, was in California on a church mission and ended up breaking his leg playing football with friends.
The young man was sent back home to recover with his family.
Luckily, they had already installed a wheelchair ramp for Dallas so Marshall was able to more easily navigate the home’s entry way as well.
In the course of Dallas’s healing process he needed to go back and forth to Utah, which is approximately a 10 hour drive from Idaho where the family lives.
The vehicle they were using had been in rough shape before they had even started using it for such long drives and, after the last trip, it finally gave up.
Mechanics said the vehicle would need a new steering shaft and it would cost a minimum of $1000 to fix.
Luckily for Dallas and the Christensen family, the Idaho Secret Santa had heard about their situation and was determined to help.
The Idaho Secret Santa is an anonymous benefactor who has pledged to give a million dollars to families who are in need and deserve all the help they can get.
Santa heard about the Christensen family and knew they would be the perfect recipients for what he had to offer.
He provided the family with $2000 in gas cards so they wouldn’t have to worry about paying for gas on their trips, as well as a $1000 check for the family to use as they saw fit.
The biggest gift of the day however, was a brand new car.
Upon receiving the gifts the whole family was stunned and extremely grateful of the kind stranger who had helped them.
