Miranda Lambert’s song, “The House That Built Me”, can bring the tears to your eyes the moment she starts singing
Miranda Lambert was performing her hit song at a concert in Hartford, Connecticut when she broke down in tears and the reason why will pull on your heartstrings more than the lyrics in her song.
Miranda Lambert had just started to sing the first verse when she spotted a fan’s sign in her audience.
Many fans bring homemade signs to concerts.
They can range to “I Love You”, “#1 Fan,” and even requests for a certain song.
Yet, this sign did not mention any of that. This sign had a very specific message for Miranda.
The sign read, “3 combat tours, [your] voice was the last thing I listened to EVERY NIGHT! THANK YOU!!!”
The moment Miranda Lambert saw the sign, it was game over for her emotions.
Miranda threw her arms up in resignation that she was about to get emotional.
She also took a step back from the microphone and asked the man holding the sign, “really?”
Yes, really. The rest of her audience did not know what was going on, but she would fix that quickly.
Miranda Lambert walked over to where the man was standing in the pit and grabbed the sign from him.
She showed it off to the rest of the crowd. Lambert’s audience was already cheering her along but when they saw the sign they became ever louder.
Miranda was already emotional about the veteran’s sign. So, who was he?

The veteran is named Jeff Tudisca.
Tudisca was in the United States Army and served three tours in Afghanistan and Iraq.
He told the news station, WFSB, that her voice was the only voice that was able to soothe him at the time.
Tudisca had already seen Lambert in concert five times, but this was the first time he had brought a sign to tell her how much she helped him overseas.
Tudisca was hoping for Miranda Lambert to see his sign but he was not prepared for her emotional reaction to the touching message.
After displaying the sign for the entire audience to read, Miranda tried to refocus back onto her song.
The band was did not stop playing throughout the quick but heartfelt interaction.
Yet, Miranda could not compose herself and who could blame her?
Her fans definitely did not blame her tearful emotions. When Lambert was too emotional to sing, the audience helped her out. The entire audience started to sing the song themselves, until she was ready.
Tudisca and Lambert’s exchange was short but powerful.

So much so that when the video went viral the local radio station, Country 92.5 FM, stepped in. Country 92.5 contacted Miranda Lambert’s staff to help arrange for the two to meet and it worked!
Tudisca was able to meet Miranda at another local concert of hers.
