Tammy Medine has always put everyone else’s needs before her own.
She is a grandmother who not only cares for her own ailing mother but her mother-in-law, as well. Tammy doesn’t complain about caring for the women, and her efforts haven’t gone unnoticed.
Her brother recently decided to surprise Tammy with something she has always wanted and deserves: a new car.
Jason, her brother, wrote her a letter of appreciation. He thanked her for caring for their mother, who has numerous health problems, as well as her mother-in-law, who suffers from dementia. He also mentioned how she has always cared for everyone else her entire life.
Tammy read the note in her kitchen and broke down in tears. She was moved by the letter and happy to know that her family appreciates everything she does for them. As she is wiping the tears from her eyes, another family member announced: “There’s something in the driveway.”
She looked out the window to see a white car with a huge red bow on top.
She couldn’t believe her eyes. She went outside to see that it was a brand-new Mercedes. Tammy had been driving her 18-year-old Mercedes for years while taking care of the two women.
She used it to drive them to the grocery store, doctors’ appointments, and everywhere else they needed to go. She never once complained about her old car, but her brother felt that she needed a new one.
Her family had really gone out and bought her a brand-new Mercedes. She definitely wasn’t expecting it. She cried tears of joy and thanked them all for the amazing gift.
Her family wasn’t about to take the credit.
They assured her that she was the one who deserved to be thanked for everything she does for all of them. Even her husband agreed that she is a very special woman.
Tammy’s brothers help her care for their mother as much as they can, but they don’t live nearby, so it’s hard for them to do very much. Tammy takes care of her the most, and the brothers appreciate all the sacrifices she makes for all of them.
They felt that buying her a brand-new car was the least they could do for her considering how much she does for them. Now she can drive the two elderly women around in style, and she doesn’t have to worry about her car breaking down or stalling on them.
Tammy’s husband is appreciative of the car, too.
He is glad that she is willing to help take care of his mom, too. Dementia is a terrible disease that affects many elderly people. According to ALZ.org:
“Alzheimer’s Disease is the sixth-leading cause of death in. the United States. More than 60 percent of Alzheimer’s and dementia caregivers are women. Payments. for care are estimated to be 214 billion in 2014. One in nine older Americans has Alzheimer’s Disease.”
Caring for someone with dementia can be challenging. Sufferers often have mood swings, memory problems, and general confusion. They often need help with many of their daily activities.
It can’t be easy taking care of two elderly women who are both suffering from different diseases, but Tammy does it every single day.
She loves her family and is willing to do anything to care for them and make them happy. Hopefully, she finds some time to enjoy her new car. She may feel like it is an extravagant gift, but as far as her family is concerned, it’s not nearly enough to show their gratitude. Tammy is truly a special woman.
