When you’re out to eat, it’s a common experience to have waiters greeting you, taking your order, and bringing your food. Sometimes, they’ll check on you to see if you need anything else. Waiters and waitresses that do all those things can be considered good at their jobs.

One couple decided to dine at the local IHOP in Springfield, Illinois.

They aren’t new to the place. In fact, they’ve been going to that restaurant for several years already. Waiters consider the regulars and the staff know them.

One of the people who served at the restaurant was Joe Thomas.

He’d seen the pair dine at the restaurant several times. Working there for more than a decade, he knew that the woman has a medical problem and that required the husband to feed her every time they visit the place.

Every time the couple was in the restaurant, Joe noticed that the husband would always prioritize feeding his wife.

To help them out, Joe decided to sit down with them.

He began feeding the woman so the pair could have a more enjoyable meal together.

In an interview with ABC News Channel 20, he shared:

“I always see him stop eating to feed her and I was like, ‘Heck if I’m not doing anything why don’t I go feed her so he can eat and everyone can be happy?”

He didn’t do it to get recognition.

All he wanted was to help the husband so that both of them could be happy while eating.

However, his kindness didn’t go unnoticed.

The other people who were dining at that time saw what he did. One woman got her phone and took a picture of what happened. She shared it on social media.

From there, Joe’s kindness went viral.

Another one commented:

“This is what all men should be doing, helping others who are in need of assistance. Providing service to others. What an awesome young man. He has made his parents very proud.”

Even with so much attention, the kind man still didn’t ask to be recognized.

He was brought up with the idea of treating people as equals. He just wanted to help others.
