Those who work hard and those who coast by.
In a company, there will always be people who are loyal and extremely dedicated, so much so that they rarely miss a day of work in their jobs.
But, can you imagine not missing a single shift after working for the company for 27 years?
This might seem impossible to some, but not to Kevin Ford who works as a fast-food employee at a Burger King at the Las Vegas McCarren International Airport.
Kevin has been in the food industry for 27 years and through all that time, the man never missed a single day at his work.
He is currently part of HMSHost, a food service company.
For almost three decades, Kevin has worked every shift with dedication and loyalty to his employer.
He has been working in fast food businesses since gaining custody of his two children.
Kevin recently reached 27 years of employment, and he received a gift from his co-workers.
He has shown up on each shift and for that, his coworkers have shown their appreciation by giving him a goodie bag.
He received it happily and proudly showed off his gifts.
“This is very nice, from Starbucks, thank you guys,” Kevin shared graciously while pulling out a movie ticket, pens, a bag of Reese’s chocolate and two rolls of Lifesavers.
He was so touched by the gesture that he posted the video on social media. Surprisingly, the clip was watched over 2 million times.
People online found out about his story and thought that the loyal and dedicated employee deserved so much more than just a goodie bag.
Almost three decades of his life were spent working earnestly and not even missing one single shift.
Employees like Kevin are truly rare, and his sincerity and loyalty are worth more than just a goodie bag.
Kevin’s daughter, Seryna, created a GoFundMe page for her dad.
“[My dad] originally began working at this job as a single father when he gained custody of me and my older sister 27 years ago,” she wrote on GoFundMe.
She then shared how the man raised her and her sister through the job that he held for 27 years now.
“Then as our family grew and he remarried, he continued to work here because of the amazing health insurance that was provided through this employer because it was unionized, which got all four of his daughters through high school and college with full healthcare coverage. My dad continues to work here, because though he does look young, he is coming up on retirement age and leaving would cost him his retirement.”
She was hoping to raise money for her father to be able to buy a plane ticket so he could visit her and her family.
Donations poured in for Kevin.
As of this writing, his GoFundMe page has reached over $329,000.
The donations have been overwhelming for Seryna and her father.
All the attention and assistance he received are amazing and Kevin could not believe that this was all happening to him.
“It is awesome,” he said. It’s so overwhelming and beautiful. I’m just trying to take it all in. I’m just so appreciative of everything.”
The kind man may have more than what he asked for, but he will always be thankful for the simple but meaning full gift he received from his coworkers.
“I was just saying thanks for what I received,” he said, recalling the goodie bag. “I was happy to receive anything. I’m grateful for the little things.”
