A lot of us are suckers for romance and true love. Even when you’re not the one being wined, dined, and adored – watching someone else experience the beauty of love can still melt your heart.
One woman witnessed the sweetest scene while she was at an airport in Los Angeles waiting to board a bus.
Valerie Jane couldn’t help but notice an elderly gentleman standing by himself. He was holding a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates.
The man was obviously there to pick up someone he loved – so Valerie decided to hit record on her phone. Perhaps she’s a sucker for romance too! Overall, it’s a good thing she did because what she ended up capturing on film is sooo cute.
It’s a little bit of a waiting game at first…
Eventually, the man sees who he’s waiting for and his face lights up bright.
Being apart from the person you love is never easy. While we don’t know how long his other half had been gone – his overjoyed expression shows how much he missed her.
A woman walks up (who’s his lovely wife) and they immediately kiss and wrap their arms around each other.
What Valerie was witnessing is like a scene from a romantic film. Only when it’s real-life true love, it’s so much better!
Their embrace is long and genuine.
Despite being in a bustling airport surrounded by strangers, the two love birds seem to be lost in their own world. They hug and kiss like they are head over heels for one another. Don’t be surprised if you can’t stop yourself from saying, “Aww!”
She seems appreciative of her thoughtful gifts.
Although love isn’t all about material objects, it’s nice to bring a smile to your partner’s face with the little things they like. In the video, the man presents the flowers and boxed candy to his wife (what a lucky lady).
Valerie was so touched by what she saw in the terminal that she decided to share it with others.
On YouTube, she wrote:
“As I was waiting to get onto the bus at Van Nuys Flyaway, I notice this old man standing with roses and chocolates in his hand waiting for his wife to come from the airport. This shows the epitome of love. My heart melted and it showed me that this kind of love exists. Hopefully these two lovely people who are in the video can see this.”
The video went viral online and the couple’s identity was finally revealed.
BuzzFeed News interviewed Cherisa Fleming about her grandparents, Bernard and Carol Mills. They’re from Bakersfield, California, and were 75 and 80-years-old at the time.
Bernard and Carol had each lost a spouse when they met through a dating site in 2010. After watching the video it’s apparent their love was still burning strong five years later!
Unsurprisingly, being sweet is something that is part of Bernard’s nature. Cherisa told BuzzFeed News:
“My grandfather is such a sweetheart — not just on special occasions, but every day. He adores all of the women in his life, especially his wife!”
It’s hard not to get wrapped up in how incredible true love is, even if you’re just watching it from afar. Surely this couple’s love will continue to soar!
