How many of us would get annoyed if we were cut off by another shopper while waiting in line for the cashier? Thankfully, there are still those people who not only take it easy when it comes to the cashier line, but they are also willing to help the person who cuts them off.
Danny Pineda of Peoria, Arizona, is not the person who would take it personally if you accidentally cut him off at the grocery store.
The man, who owns a boat rental business, has a more laid-back personality and enjoys spending time with his four-legged friend, Rocky.
So, when he was cut off in line for the cashier at the grocery store, he didn’t bother too much. Instead, he even helped the man who cut him off in a heartwarming act of generosity.
As Pineda was in line at a Bashas grocery store, an elderly man cut him off.
As Pineda explained in a Facebook post, the man probably didn’t notice he was waiting as well, possibly because he was keeping the 6ft distance from the person in front of him.
“I was waiting in line to pay for my groceries while maintaining my 6ft distance. When this man cut in front of me. He didn’t appear to notice me. I didn’t say anything maintained my distance,” the post reads.
It was generous of Pineda to let the man get to the cashier first, but that was not all.
A little while later, the cashier had scanned the elderly man’s products- which were nothing more than cookies and milk- and it was time for him to pay.
It was at that moment when the man realized that he had forgotten his wallet. We can only imagine how embarrassed he must have felt.
“When it was time for him to pay he reached in his back pocket and pulled out a small note pad. He forget his wallet. He looked a bit disappointed and embarrassed,” the post goes on.
Without thinking twice, Pineda knew that he had to help the man out. So, he stepped in and paid for the stranger’s groceries.
The elderly man couldn’t believe how generous the fellow shopper had just been to him.
“I stepped up and told the cashier I would take care of his groceries. (Which consisted of Milk and Chocolate Chip Cookies). He was more [than] grateful. He thanked me and off he went.”
Then, it was Pineda’s turn to have his groceries scanned. The cashier, who had seen the whole thing unfold in front of her, was curious to know why the man was so kind and generous to someone who cut him off in the first place.
Pineda’s response was heartmelting:
“I hope that if one day my Dad forgets his wallet someone will step up and buy his Milk and Cookies,” he wrote.
Let’s just hope that good deeds like this one have a domino effect and lead to more and more acts of kindness because our world certainly needs them!
