Dogs have an incredible understanding of emotions. Even if they can’t understand what we’re saying, they always seem to know what we’re feeling. And sometimes, they come to comfort us. This is true even for dogs who were saved from some truly dire circumstances.
One heartwarming video is the perfect example of this.
This abandoned dog was saved, and when his rescuer started crying over his sad circumstances, he comforted her.
It all started with an act of bravery, kindness, and humanity in the face of the inhuman. When one woman witnessed dogs experiencing serious neglect, she knew she has to step up and take action. She said:
“I saw abandoned dogs for days with no food, water or shelter, dying in 100 + degrees. They were tied up on two-foot chains, not able to move. I waited to see if someone would help them and I couldn’t sleep at night, so I saved them.”
The dog in the front seat of her car then did something that will stay with her for the rest of her life. In the midst of all the suffering and pain this poor creature had endured, it met kindness with only the gentlest of gratitude.
As his savior sobbed and comforted the pup, the dog turned the tables and began petting her back.
It was only a matter of time before his tail was wagging and he was snuggling up against her.
The driver reflects on the emotional moment with her focus only on the unwavering goodness of the dog she helped save.
“It broke my heart that he’d been neglected and was dying and wasn’t mad at me but grateful. I started to cry and again, his focus shifted from himself to now my needs. I couldn’t believe so much love came from an animal that literally just came from a situation like he was in.”
The interaction between the rescued Rover and his savior was captured on video. You can see right from the get-go that the dog has nothing but love for his new pal.
While his ears are tucked behind his head, the pooch continues to brazenly reach out to the new woman in his life with open paws, and, as their contact continues, he embraces the new friendship fully — wagging tail and all.
One YouTuber commenter perfectly summed up the video:
“She’s crying, the dogs crying, i’m crying. Who is holding the steering wheel?”
This video is the perfect example of why rescuing a dog is so rewarding. Rescue dogs have gone through some tough times, but they have so much love to give. Watching them blossom and grow is truly wonderful.
