Elderly people are often admitted to assisted living facilities to make sure that there’ll be someone who’ll look after them and their needs. Even though it’s a trend, not every elderly person wants to live that way.

William and Inez Florence have been residing in an assisted living facility.

With courage and the desire to get back their independence, the couple decided to move out and start over. In their 90s, they became new homeowners.

But they aren’t strangers when it comes to challenges.

William is actually a disabled veteran. Inez, on the other hand, is a really strong wife. With love and the commitment to be with her husband, she was able to take care of him when he was sick. Together, they raised four kids and a couple of grandchildren.

Moving to a new home wasn’t easy.

The couple’s realtor knew that and it was one of the reasons why she asked for help from the FOX5 Surprise Squad. As a disabled person, William needed a home that’ll allow him to live as safely as possible. That meant modifications in the house and extra expenses.

The realtor, Christianne Yates, wrote a letter to the Surprise Squad in Las Vegas.

She asked for any assistance to make the couple’s home a place where they don’t have to worry about anything, particularly their safety. The group gladly agreed to help.

They modified the home to meet the couple’s needs.

They widened the doors so that William won’t have problems getting through them even when he’s in his wheelchair. They also created a ramp to make rooms more accessible. They also bought new appliances and even installed new sinks and countertops!

The couple didn’t know about the surprise.

On the day they were shown the house, they were just expecting to receive the keys to their new home. Little did they know that there were tons of modifications made just for them.

It left the couple speechless.
