With everything going on in the world over the last couple of years, it is kind of necessary to try to find ways to make people around us happy- some of them we might know and others might be complete strangers who just are in need of some help.

The “Shock and Claus” movement started a couple of years ago, and it has made people happy nationwide so far.

One of the lucky ones was Mikia, a young waitress at Waffle House, who works hard to provide for her 5 children.

A group of six friends found out about the movement and, having in mind that Mikia would probably need some extra money- especially with the holiday season coming up- decided to surprise her.

Tabatha Adams was the one who arranged it all, and she shared the story on her Facebook page. In the post she explained:

“What is “Shock and Clause”? We meet for breakfast, you must bring a $100 Bill, we eat and pay the bill and the rest is a tip. So if 10 go, that is a $1,000 and the bill is $150, the tip is $850. We trust the Universe to take us to the right person to be blessed … I recommend the total dives where the average tip is $5 or so.”

Indeed, Adams and five of her friends met up at Waffle House having $100 on them each. They ordered breakfast, ate, and when it was time to pay, they each paid $100 no matter what the price of their meal was, leaving the rest as a tip for Mikia.

The young woman at first had no idea what was going on, but when she realized what was happening, she started tearing up.

One by one the diners handed her a big tip at the register.

“Y’all trying to make me cry,” she said. “Thank you guys for the blessing, every single last one of y’all.”

The sweetest part is that, when two other diners realized what was happening, they decided to participate and each gave Mikia a $100 tip as well.

Adams talked about the surprise, explaining that it is not that she and her friends are millionaires, but they just wanted to make someone happy.

“It’s not like I have a million dollars and can just give away money,” Adams told WCPO-TV . “So, as one person, you really can’t do a lot — but you’re gonna find your people. … I hope more people can do it.”

Other participants in the surprise also highlighted the importance of giving and discussed how happy they were to see how grateful Mikia was for the surprise.

“Giving is contagious,” Simon Amor said. “When she looked at me and her eyes were tearing up, it took everything not to kind of get choked up at that moment.”

“What a perfect time at Christmas to really give back,” said Alan Whisman. “I just really prayed before I came…that it would be a blessing for her.”
