Do you believe in superheroes? How do you imagine them to be? Dressed in a bodysuit and a cape? Ready to jump in and protect us from every bad thing that comes in our way?
Wouldn’t be amazing if that was indeed the case? In our story today, you will see how there are Superheroes, all around us, but they aren’t like the ones created by Marvel, they are normal people like the rest of us.
On October 13, 2018, in Shaoxing City, in east China’s Zhejiang Province, a tragic accident would have happened if a young man hadn’t intervened on time and saved the day.
A CCTV caught the whole incident play out in every detail. We can see two little girls standing by the riverside. A six-year-old girl was washing her mop in the river while her sister was waiting nearby.
However, as she was trying to clean the mop, she slipped and fell in the river.
For a few seconds, we can see in the video how the poor girl is struggling to stay afloat. Although raised by the river, probably these little girls hadn’t learned how to swim yet.
Fortunately for her, a delivery man, the 23-year-old He Linfeng, happened to pass by the place of the accident on his way to make a delivery.
When the young man caught a glimpse of the struggling child, didn’t hesitate for a moment, halting his motorbike.
As we can see in the video, the man literally just after leaving his mobile phone at the bank of the river, jumped directly in, without wasting any second.
According to the CCTV, He Linfeng’s reaction and rescue time were 10 seconds!
The young man proved to be a real-life superhero for the young girl. Immediately after jumping in the river, he grabbed the child who in her turn clung to the young man for dear life!
He Linfeng made sure that the child was able to get out first, and he even saved her mop and one of her shoes. As you can see in the video, as soon as the child was safe, he jumped right back in the water in order to find her other shoe.
One would ask why a shoe is important when he had already saved her life? Well, if you observe the surroundings, you can realize that probably they were located in a less privileged area or part of the town.
For people coming from the lower classes, clothes or shoes can be often really difficult to replace. So, He Linfeng, by saving the little girl’s shoes, showed how considerate he was for the girl and her family.
As soon as his “mission” was over, the young hero, wrung his clothes and left. You can see him walking all drenched towards his motorbike.
This kind of actions by strangers powered only by their compassion and human protective instincts is what makes this world worth saving.
Let’s hope He Linfeng is well and blessed wherever he is!
