The young woman has a thing for dogs, she just loves them and can’t help petting them- not only family dogs but also random ones she sees on the street.

That’s what she did the other day, when she was on the front porch of her house. She saw a dog roaming in the street and she just called it to pet it and give it a little love.

But, when Max realized what was going on, he rushed out of the house.

A moment later, a fight started between Max and the much bigger dog, which his owner was petting at the time.

Immediately, things escalated, and the furious big dog tried to bite Max.

Lauren tried to defend her small dog, but it was obvious the other dog wouldn’t let them go easily.

“Well my first thought was save the dog, you know, family pet, I would’ve let the dog bite me for all I care, I just wanted him to be safe cause he’s so small compared to a pitbull he didn’t stand a chance,” Lauren Ray told FOX 5 Las Vegas.

The whole thing was being captured on camera and Lauren’s father, Michael, was shocked to see his daughter fight an angry dog without being able to react.

“As a dad you know panic mode, I’m a half an hour away from the house, literally it’s like I’m watching a football game and screaming at it I’m like, ‘get in the house, get in the house!'” Michael Ray said.

Just when the teen felt hopeless, a miracle happened.

Stephanie Lontz, a delivery driver who works for 702 Logistics- a local courier contracted by Amazon- stepped in and saved the day.

The woman didn’t think twice when she heard Lauren’s screams. She stepped in right away, yelling at the woman to go inside the house, while stopping the dog from following them.

As Lontz explained, she instinctively acted the way she would wish someone else would do for her own child. Still, it was something she believes anyone should do in a similar incident.

“Phew…the screams made me think of my own child I would only hope someone would jump in and help her if she was in a similar situation. I wouldn’t even think it’s motherly it’s just- it’s the human thing to do,” Lontz told FOX 5 Las Vegas.

As the driver explained, there are lots of difficult situations delivery drivers have to face on a daily basis, but they usually go unnoticed, exactly because there is nobody there.

“I have a coworker who put out a fire the other day. It’s just–we’re really there when sometimes nobody’s there. And we’re just doing our job at the end of the day,” she added.

When the Rays family found out who the “hero” was, they organized a surprise for her along with 702 Logistics and Amazon.

Lontz was at a loss for words when her colleagues and the Rays surprised her, and she thanked all of them for recognizing her hard work.
