As you’re closing in on a milestone birthday, sometimes the best way to celebrate it is by treating yourself to something nice… like a brand new look! We all want to feel good about ourselves as we age, but birthdays can be reminders that we’re perhaps not as “young as we feel.” That’s why getting some pampering in the beauty department might be the most rejuvenating gift you could ever receive.
One woman named Deb was 59-years-old when she decided to call up stylist Christopher Hopkins (Aka: The Makeover Guy). With the big 6-0 peeking its head around the corner – she wanted to enter a new decade of life looking as youthful as she felt.
But would Deb walk out of his Minneapolis salon loving her appearance?
She was ready to ditch her long hair.
Growing long, luscious locks isn’t something every woman is able to do – and it can get much more difficult with age. As they say though, the grass is always greener on the other side.
Deb showed up for her appointment with a full head of natural curls. While many women would give anything for her hair, she was ready to make a big chop. Instead of a long style, she desired one that was “short” and “easy.”
Christopher was surprised by her choice, but couldn’t agree more.
No two clients featured on The Makeover Guy’s YouTube channel are exactly alike. However, a lot of women with beautiful hair like Deb’s might have asked him not to cut it too short. In the video description, Christopher wrote:
“Deb wanted short hair. I actually thought the same thing upon first meeting her, but assumed, like most, that she’d want to leave her length and use her natural curl. She did not. It was a blast.”
Just because Deb was turning 60, didn’t mean that was the age of her inner-self. In reality, she felt like a 35-year-old.
Even if you feel much younger, your true age can be apparent every time you look in the mirror. Fortunately, there are stylists like The Makeover Guy who are real magicians when it comes to defying nature with their skills. In 2008, Christopher even published a book titled, Staging Your Comeback, A Complete Beauty Revival for Women Over 45.
With Deb’s milestone birthday on the horizon, she too was ready to release her inner-youth!
Say goodbye to the curls, and hello to a sexy new Deb.
Remember how Deb asked for a short haircut that would be simple to maintain? Well, that’s exactly what she got! When her new look is revealed, she has a gorgeous short style that’s been dyed a lovely brown. Her face is stunning too with the perfect combination of makeup that allows her eyes to pop.
But what’s most important is that Deb loves it! She tells the camera:
“This is the only place that I’ve come to my entire life where I’ve said ‘do whatever you want’ … I felt comfortable with Christopher.”
It’s a transformation that not all viewers agreed with. However, it received many positive comments like the one below!
“Oh wow, that soft brown color is so gorgeous on her! I love curly hair and didn’t want the curls to go but when I saw the after… Christopher nailed the wow factor with that style! She looks fantastic!”
