Whether people like it or not, war is part of every era. That means brave men and women spend time away from home and families to serve their country. As hard as that is, there’s the exciting part…when they return. You’ve probably seen some heartwarming reunion videos but one, in particular, captured the world’s attention.
The story went viral
You know when a video gets more than 15 million views, it has to be spectacular. In December of 2018, someone posted one online, and quickly, it went viral. This is truly an amazing story.
So, here’s how it went
An older brother headed off to serve in the military. Along with his parents, he left behind his little brother. Not only was he the youngest of the two but also deaf.
Hiding in wait
After returning home from deployment, the older brother decided to surprise his sibling. He headed to the younger boy’s school. Now, they had to come up with a plan to surprise him.
A great plot
With the help of the boy’s teacher, they decided the younger brother would be called out of class. The way they did this made him think he was in trouble. After all, anytime you’re told to go to the principal’s office, you know something bad is about to happen.
Motioning to him
Standing outside of the boy’s classroom, the teacher motions for him to come out. With a small glass pane, she’s the only person he can see. Remember, the older brother is standing quietly in the corner getting ready for the big surprise.
He doesn’t see his brother…yet
With one teacher semi-blocking the soldier and the other teacher standing in a way that makes the boy turn his back to his brother, he has no idea that his hero stands just feet away. Next, the door opens and two more people walk out. With the door open, the older brother is completely hidden.
This kid was probably so scared
He thought he did something wrong so we can only imagine what was going through his mind. Then, the door shuts. The younger brother sees it close in his peripheral vision, which causes him to turn around to look. That’s when it happens.
Larger than life
This boy runs toward his brother so fast that within seconds, he’s in his arms. The two just stand there embracing. Instead of loud sobs, they just hold one another in silence. It’s such a touching moment.
Never letting go
For several minutes, the two hold onto each other. While the two have their arms firmly wrapped around each other, the soldier smiles from ear to ear. Finally, after being separated for way too long, they’re together again.
Get out the tissue
Even watching the video, you can feel the overwhelming love between these two brothers. At one point, they pull away from each other and stare. Is this really happening? It is and we’re all so glad this precious moment was captured and shared.
After saying something to his little brother in sign language, the two go back to hugging and smiling. You don’t have to know anyone who’s deployed to appreciate this homecoming. Watch the surprise unfold by clicking on the video below. Just have some tissue handy.
