Juggling work and family can be exhausting.

Though the rewards of starting a family are great, the patience and energy necessary to be a good parent will take its toll on you. After putting in a hard day at work or at home, there’s something so rewarding about getting all cozy in bed and getting a good night’s rest to do it all over again.

Still, not all parents may be getting the sleep they need.

You may be familiar with the name Dale Partridge.

Partridge is an entrepreneur, CEO of Sevenly and a best-selling author. He’s also a husband and a father, a set of jobs he ranks as even more important than his professional achievements. Although Partridge already has a track record of making noise on the internet, now he’s doing it for a different reason.

Partridge recently went viral as a result of a post to men about their wives.

In his Facebook post, Partridge points out how moms sometimes get the bad end of the sleep deal.

The post, addressed to his wife Veronica, read:

“She spends all week serving me and the kids. I spend all week serving the bills. Most men think it’s a fair trade, but I doubt it. Husbands, we are no more entitled to a restful weekend than our wives. The badge of “breadwinner” doesn’t authorize us to escape our home duties come Saturday and Sunday. The luxury of rest is a gift many men steal from their wives each weekend. Remember, the 40-hour work week is a cultural standard, but God tells us to share our wive’s burdens and protect her from strain. It’s okay to rest, God even commands it, just make sure you’re not the only one doing it. #DaleyWisdom”

As of today, the post has been shared more than 69,000 times on Facebook.

As Partridge points out, men often get praise for being hard workers and bread earners and forget that they also have duties to do at home. As he says in his post, earning money does not excuse us from putting in time with the children as well—and sleep is important for happy relationships.

Above all, Partridge’s note is a reminder to give to others.

Though it’s easy to be selfish in a relationship, Dale notes that his wife and family are just as important to him as anything else—and that he’ll never lose sight of that.
