Sing-alongs during road trips have always been fun. But for this family, they took it as a chance to show their love.
In a viral video that Jewell Richins posted, he and his daughters are on the road when the sing-along happened. The video has almost 3 million views and was uploaded on his YouTube channel.
Jewell uses his YouTube channel to share his daily experiences as a single dad. On his channel’s banner, he describes himself as “Just a single dad who loves his kids.” The father of seven from Utah spends a lot of his time with his kids, like supporting them in school and attending their extracurriculars, going on holidays, hiking, and a lot of road trips.
It is during these times that his daughters truly shine.
His YouTube channel and his Instagram account have a ton of videos of them singing along to various songs like “Can I Be Him” by James Arthur, “Half a Man” by Dean Lewis, and even surprising a road-side construction worker with Katy Perry’s “Part of Me.”
You can tell that singing is a part of their lives, and through all of these videos, Jewell is obviously proud of his daughters and the talent they share with the world.
But in this video, Jewell and his daughters were singing not to bring joy, but to pay tribute to a person that meant a lot to them, especially to Jewell.
He started the video by saying:
“So we just want him to know that we love him.”
On the video’s description, it says “This goes out to my father#2, dialysis ends & a new journey begins. We will never forget you Joe Hill”
Even at the beginning of the video, Jewell is already overcome with emotions as he was trying his best to hold his tears back. But it only got more difficult when his daughters eased him into the song and filled their car with an amazing tribute.
As the song builds into the chorus, the duet’s emotional rendition was beginning to take a hold of Jewell.
Even if he is in the middle of grieving for his loss, Jewell was comforted by the heartwarming voices and the message of the song. There are even times where he sings along with the girls.
Both of his daughters got their moments, pitching into the beautiful moment that their dad would remember forever.
As the song progressed, Jewell finds out that the tears are becoming much more difficult to hold. He would struggle to keep it together so he would not interrupt the beautiful tribute. You can hear him steal some whimpers, trying his best not to be overcome by his emotions.
“I love you Joe. we’ll see you on the other side. Thanks for all the memories, bro.”
Sometimes, it only takes a song to help us express what we are truly feeling, hoping that the words would frame the love that we cherished.
