Dad’s can be pretty ridiculous. They’re known to be full of stale moves and corny jokes – “Dad jokes.” They’re generally not applauded for their fashion, either.
I mean, just take a look at Dad’s short-sleeved hoodie.
Dad’s in full-on dad mode.
Dad takes a moment to provide some context. So what exactly’s going on?
“It’s a quarantine Monday. My daughter challenged me quick while I was working away to a little dance challenge. I don’t think she realizes how much a 38-year-old can still throw it down.”
She comically retorts with, “57.” He playfully snaps back, “51!”
Well, this is going to be good.
Dad’s kind of a clown, in the best way. He seems really fun-loving and involved in his daughter’s life.
But can he dance?
We’ll soon find out. My expectations are low.
He looks off-camera to whoever’s controlling the music.
“Let’s do this.”
The opening synths of Flo Rida’s club hit “Low” start.
“Throw your hands up in the air!” Dad’s ready to go, playfully obstructing his daughter’s dance floor.
The lyrics cascade in,
“Shawty had them Apple Bottom jeans (Jeans), boots with the fur (with the fur)
The whole club was lookin’ at her”
The dynamic duo immediately strings together a series of crisp choreography.
He has some amazing moves! And so does his daughter.
Seriously, they’re both fantastic. He’s really putting forth an effort. Although maybe not as technically proficient as she is, he holds his own.
But I’m not quite sure how his face looks so ridiculously hilarious in every single frame of the performance.
The club anthem continues,
“She hit the flo’ (She hit the flo’), next thing you know
Shawty got low-low-low-low-low-low-low-low”
They’re almost equally smooth in their motions. There’s no real “star” here.
Usually, they say “like father like son.” But what about “like daughter like father”?
“Them baggy sweat pants
And the Reeboks with the straps (With the straps)
She turned around and gave that big booty a smack (Ayy!)
She hit the flo’ (She hit the flo’), next thing you know
Shawty got low-low-low-low-low-low-low-low”
The chorus ends, giving Dad some space to declare, “This is where I throw it down right here.”
I’m sure.
The lyrics start back up, inciting a flurry of ferocious moves from our father-daughter duo.
“I ain’t never seen nothin’ that’ll make me go
This crazy all night spendin’ my dough
Had a million dollar vibe and a bottle to go
Them birthday cakes they stole the show
So sexual, she was flexible
Professional, drinkin’ X and O
Hold up, wait a minute, do I see what I think I, whoa
Did I think I see shawty get low?”
Dad playfully pushes his daughter out of the way. As usual, his face says it all.
With his daughter out of the picture, he gives a wonderful solo, creating a wave with his arms.
He’s really not half bad. But his hoodie sure is.
Even though the song keeps going, Dad performs his version of a mic-drop, raising his arms and walking off the “dance floor.”
“51 baby!!”
51? I almost don’t believe it. He looks closer to 38. A dance challenge is no problem.
Their performance was a lot better than expected. I knew Daughter would bring it, but Dad certainly proved all the doubters, myself included, completely wrong.
Dad seems like a wonderful, well, dad. He’s going out of his way to partake in something his daughter deeply enjoys – dance.
Not only are they pretty funny, but their chemistry is amazing. They’re hilarious together.
Thanks for the zany performance. These days, we all need a good laugh.
