Isn’t it stressful to be engaged in an argument? Even though you are on the right side, it is expected to end up frustrating especially if you and the person you are arguing with don’t want to back down.
It’s a different story when it’s between a parent and a toddler.
If you search these kinds of video on social media, most of them are being described as “funny”, “cute” and “adorable”. Well, they really are and many of them are massively viral online. It’s delightful to watch kids who are babbling adorably.
An example of this is a video that has gained over 48 million views on YouTube.
The star in this video is Lola, a 15-month-old baby, and her dad who was jokingly scolding at her. When you watch their video, you will immediately hear the father’s loud voice. The reason behind his unreal anger was because his baby was standing on a glass table so he just wanted her to go down.
The little kid was brave to respond and talk to her father with conviction.
It’s like she’s defending her case for staying on top of the table. However, she could not communicate using words so she utters cute gibberish.
Her dad hilariously replied and said, “You don’t get to tell me what to do!”
If you are a parent of a toddler, you know that this really happens.
There are times that your little ones can become stubborn and you’ll feel their eagerness to do whatever they want even though they are not good for them. This is one of the reasons why they need you.
According to Zero To Three, toddlers are “realizing that they are separate individuals from their parents and caregivers.” So they become more expressive about their likes and dislikes. With Lola’s case, she is a bit younger and probably just wants to talk.
Lola has something more to say.
She uttered more gibberish which made her dad reply, “What did you call me?”
She kept on talking as her daddy was desperately telling her to go down.
Though their conversation was just for fun, you can feel that the dad was worried.
So, he did not let it take too much longer. He picked her up and move her away from the table.
I appreciate how the father handled this kind of situation. Instead of genuinely yelling at her daughter, he used it to have a fun moment with her. Thankfully, that adorable moment was shared online and has been bringing happiness to all of us.
Another good thing about this viral video is it shows that parents should listen to their kids.
Though Lola can’t speak words yet, her dad takes time to listen to what she says. Parents should always consider listening to their kids. Making them feel heard is very important. It’s one of the things to consider when you want to communicate well with them.
