It’s always funny to see how people respond to seeing celebrities on the street. In some cases, they get tunnel vision, and they don’t notice anything else around them.
A man who goes by the name @HonoredSpirit on Twitter told us the hilarious story about one of his friends, Alex Cabana, who was on a vacation in Montauk, New York when he spotted actor, Matthew Broderick. Cabana asked the actor to pose for a photo with his daughter.
Broderick obliged, but the dad got annoyed when another man standing in the background didn’t stand aside. So he asked him to back up.
When he showed the photo to his family, he realized the mistake he’d made.
This story is basically the facepalm of all facepalms.
While the man was starstruck by Broderick he didn’t realize that there was an equally brilliant celebrity standing next to Broderick who has brought laughter to millions of people all over the world who he brushed off and dismissed.
We present to you “The Matthew Broderick Story”:
“A few years ago a friend of mine took his family out to Montauk on vacation and had stopped at a little store to get snacks, etc, and who do they see but that Star of Stage and Screen, Matthew Broderick.
…also in the store with a friend. So my friend politely asks Broderick if he will take a photo with his daughter. Broderick gallantly obliges, but this is a once in a lifetime photo and he wants it to be just right…
…so he asks Broderick’s friend to kind of move to the side a bit out of frame, and he moves a bit. And my friend says, just a little more, a little more, keeps doing the nudging motion with his hand. Lots of nudging. Okay he wont move any farther, fine, we can crop him out…
…and they take the picture and go back to the car all big grins to the rest of the family, who all shout in unison WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?”
I mean, how the heck do you not know who Jerry Seinfeld is?!?! And how the heck do you not know who Jerry Seinfeld is but do know who Matthew Broderick is?!?!

@HonoredSpirit’s post ended up going viral and the internet fell in love with it.
“This was the best day of Matthew Broderick’s life,” joked a Twitter commenter.
It turns out that Matthew Broderick and Jerry Seinfeld are really good friends, so if you see one in public, maybe you should look for the other from now on. That’s especially the case during baseball season since they’re both huge fans.
