Tis the season to be jolly…and to order a whole bunch of presents for family members and friends. Although some people still enjoy working their way through overcrowded malls and stores, most simply order things online. It’s quick, easy, and often, a great way to spend less money. Of course, that means there are a lot of delivery drivers staying busy as they work hard to get packages delivered on time.
It’s not that we’re unappreciative of what they do, just overly focused on all the tasks we need to complete. We buy gifts and they’re delivered…the end of the story. Well, not for one customer and her Amazon driver. Recognizing his and other driver’s hard work, she wanted to do something special for them.
She set out a basket of goodies as her way of saying, “thank you.”
Delivery drivers make their rounds without expecting anything in return. But one man working for Amazon got the surprise of a lifetime. After ringing a customer’s doorbell in Cleveland Heights, Ohio to notify anyone at home of the drop-off, he turned around to find a basket of treats and beverages.
Receiving cookies and soda wasn’t the best part.
For the homeowner, it made her feel good to do something for the people who make her life easier. Especially with such bitterly cold temperatures, they need a little pick-me-up. Her doorbell camera caught everything. You can see the Amazon driver finding the basket and then helping himself to some delicious treats. But that’s not all.
While she made his day, he put a smile on millions of faces with his reaction.
This particular driver wasn’t just happy, he was thrilled. To him, the fact that someone would take time to think about the delivery drivers was just too much. While munching down on a cookie, he starts doing a little jig. With it all caught on camera, the homeowner had to share it online. As imagined, it went viral.
Her kind gesture and his dance are making this holiday season a little brighter.
Within only a few days of posting the video, it had already been viewed more than 10 million times. People around the world loved that she was kind to a stranger and that he reciprocated with a little dance. Absolutely priceless.
This is a good practice to follow.
Sometimes, we forget just how hard delivery drivers work. These people battle all kinds of weather, deal with grumpy customers, and have to fight traffic just about everywhere they go to get packages to their destinations. Then there’s all the heavy lifting that goes along with the job.
Get into the holiday spirit.
It’s not too late. If you’re still waiting for packages to reach your home, why not do something similar to what this customer did? A small gesture goes a long way. If you aren’t waiting for any deliveries, remember the person who delivers your mail. A small bag of cookies with a note of thanks would make that person’s day.
Not only does something like this make the recipient feel great, but it’ll also lift your spirits. After all, Christmas is a time of giving. There are also nursing homes, fire stations, and other places that would love to receive something special this holiday season.
