Coyote Ugly grossed $113 million worldwide when it was released in 2000, but its star-studded cast wasn’t enough to save it from negative reviews. Despite this, the film went on to become a cult classic, and its main actresses went on to have successful careers.
t’s been 20 years since Coyote Ugly was released, and the cast has come a long way. They’ve all gone on to have successful careers, and they’re still remembered fondly for their roles in the film.
Playing Coyote Ugly’s founder, Maria Bello showed why she was cast. Her stunning looks come from her Italian and Polish roots. Her character started her own bar in New York City and taught the other girls all the tricks she picked up.
23 years later, Maria Bello is still a stunner. She found work after Coyote Ugly in The Jane Austen Book Club and The Cooler. She’s also a mother of 1.
3. Adam Garcia – Kevin O’Donnell
Raised in Australia, Adam Garcia brought his talent to the film playing Violet’s love interest.
He was discovered by a casting director on a musical show, which set him on the path he’s on today.
That same casting director is who brought him on board for Coyote Ugly.
Coyote Ugly was the big break that jumpstarted Adam Garcia’s career. Thanks to his exposure from that film, he foudn rolesi n Doctor Who, Kiss Me Kate, a small role in Murder On The Orient Express, and Riding Cars With Boys.
5. Johnny Knoxville – “College guy”
Finding a start on MTV’s “Jackass”, Knoxvilile made a name for himself acting in stunt-heavy shows. Despite this, his role in Coyote Ugly contianed no such stunts.
6. Johnny Knoxville – now
Johnny Knoxville’s love for stunts never left him. A Dirty Shame, Walking Tall, and Nature Calls are just a few of the projects he had the pleasure of taking part in. Though Jackass remains his most iconic role, and it spawned several more projects that Knoxville continues to work in.
Tyra Banks was the host of America’s Next Top Model for a reason. She began modelling for Victoria’s Secret in 1997 and proved she was a perfect fit for Coyote Ugly. Her role as Zoe was brief, but she owned it.
After becoming a near-household name thanks to hosting America’s Next Top Model, she also became the host of The Tyra Banks show. During the mid 2000s, Tyra Banks was
the fashion personality whose name everyone knew.
9. Izabella Miko – Cammie
After working hard for years as a dancer, Miko’s big opportunity came when she was cast in Coyote Ugly. She plays a fashion junkie, and you can see why from some of the promo stills for the film.
Her background as a dancer never left her. After her success in Coyote Ugly, Miko also found roles in
Save The Last Dance and
Step Up: All In. You can also catch her in
The Flight Attendant and
NCIS: Los Angeles.
11. LeAnn Rimes as herself
LeAnn Rimes’ role in the film could almost be called a guest-starring role. She portrayed herself as she performed an original song she wrote for the film.
LeAnn Rimes never stopped being an incredible musician. She’s been awarded two Grammys, three ACMs, and a CMA. She also kept in shape – showing off a toned physique and killer abs at 40.
13. Piper Perabo – Violet Stanford
This list wouldn’t be complete with the lead. The role was considered for Jessica Simpson at first, but went to Piper Perabo after the producer felt like no one but Perabo could make it work. She went on to play Violet Stanford, a young New York girl who joined the bar to pursue her dreams.
Piper Perabo’s role as the star of Coyote Ugly put her on the spotlight for many casting directors. She landed roles in Looper, Imagine Me And You, Covert Affairs, and The Prestige. There’s no word yet of a potential sequel to Coyote Ugly, though.
15. Kaitlin Olson – random girl bidding at an auction
Some of you might know who she is now, but in 2000, Kaitlin Olson was yet to become the comedy star that she is. Her role in Coyote Ugly was little more than a short cameo where she was bidding in the crowd.
Olson only got more roles as time went on. You might have seen her on Punk’d, The Drew Carey Show, Weather Girl, The Heat, Vacation, and The Mick.
17. Michael Bay – photographer
Yes, Michael Bay was in this film. Given his background as a director of commercials and how often he uses female looks to sell his work, it shouldn’t be a shock that he made his way into Coyote Ugly. He played a photographer in the crowd.
Michael Bay might be one of the best-known cast members on this list. You know him for directing the live-action Transformers films, as well as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Armageddon, Bad Boys 1 and 2, and also helping produce Bumblebee (2018) which rebooted the Transformers in live action.
19. Chris Wylde – other college guy
Alongside Johnny Knoxville, Chris Wylde portrayed the other “college guy”. He has two other credits to his name: as the host of the eponymous “Chris Wylde Show” and in Space Cowboys.
Wylde hasn’t exactly faded into obscurity either. The 46-year-old actor found work acting in projects like The Revenant, The Babysitter, Lucky Bastard, and Aim High.
21. Melanie Lynskey – Gloria
Lynskey portrayed a sidekick character in the film. As it turns out, she didn’t have the most pleasant time working on the film. She was body-shamed for not being as slender as the other girls cast in the film.
22. Melanie Lynskey – now
Things did get better for Lynskey. She found success in Two And A Half Men and The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, and also portrays Kathleen on HBO’s adaptation of The Last Of Us.
