Have you ever promised that you will love someone forever? What happened next?

Usually, when people promise each other their love will last forever, it is because they are crazy in love and feel like they have found their better half. But, this is rarely the case.

Many a time, humans make promises they cannot keep. They want their love to last, don’t get us wrong, but they don’t quite seem to have the recipe to make this work.

But, this does not mean that there is no “happily ever after” or “forever”. Of course, there is! And the couple in this story are here to prove it.

David and Loretta Bowen of Jesup, Georgia, have been married for 71 years and they are both 90 years old today. Their love has lasted for decades and nobody has been able to separate them.

However, earlier this year, Loretta was diagnosed with a mass in her colon, which doctors deemed necessary to be removed, so she had to undergo surgery.

Of course, this meant she had to be admitted into the hospital and, with all the measures currently being in place due to the coronavirus pandemic, this meant she couldn’t have any visitors.

With herself and her husband being this old, which means they belong to a vulnerable group, it was clear that her husband could not be by her side during her stay in the hospital- however long this would take.

But then, suddenly, as their granddaughter explained in her Instagram post, on the morning of the surgery the mass was gone.

“If you know my granddad, you know that he is a praying man. Throughout my entire life, he would go every single morning to the church and spend hours praying,” Kellum wrote. “On the day of my grandma’s surgery […] the mass was totally gone!”

Of course, the doctors kept the elderly woman in the hospital to make sure she would be fine before she was allowed to return home.

“They kept my grandma in the hospital for a few days, and this video is her returning home and reuniting with her husband,” Kellum wrote. “Brb gotta go cry and thank Jesus forever.”

In the video that Kellum posted on her Instagram account, we can see grandma arriving home by car, while her husband is right there at the parking spot impatiently waiting for her to open the door.

When she does, the man can’t contain his enthusiasm. He’s slowly approaching the car, while the woman, too, is walking towards him saying that “the boss has come home”.

The two of them then hug tightly and at that point, they can’t hold back their tears. It’s such a touching moment and we bet everyone who has watched it felt their eyes filling up with tears.

Their granddaughter’s video has been viewed by more than 1,300 people within two weeks and it has warmed the hearts of just as many.
