Working in the service industry has its fair share of ups and downs. Unfortunately, not every customer that walks in the door is going to be a ray of sunshine. But, when those regulars walk through the door, you know it’s going to be a good day!

You can’t help but feel connected to the nice people you wait on, especially the ones that you see constantly.

A waitress named Kayla Lane from Fort Worth Texas had the pleasure of waiting on Debbie and Sean Riddle who are West Side Cafe regulars. That day the Riddles brought in their new beautiful baby Glory, and Kayla couldn’t help but fall in love with her.

These new parents were glowing, but little did they know a nightmare was upon them.

The next time The Riddles came into West Side Cafe, Kayla was the one to wait on them again. But the Riddles didn’t have sweet Glory with them. So, Kayla had to ask where the baby was.

That’s when Debbie and Sean got really quiet and broke the news that Glory had passed away unexpectedly.

Kayla was left completely speechless, with her hands up to her mouth. But The Riddles were just happy that she remembered their baby girl. They even shared pictures of precious Glory with Kayla.

When it was time for Kayla to drop the bill she decided to pay for their meal and wrote a sweet note on the check instead.

She wrote,

‘You’re ticket has been paid for. We are terribly sorry for your loss. God Bless -The West Side’

Debbie and Sean were so moved by Kayla’s gesture, they thanked her graciously and took a picture together. As devastated as The Riddles were after losing their beautiful baby they were both happy to keep their daughter’s memory alive.

But that was only the beginning of the overflowing love and prayers they were going to receive.

In an interview with USA Today, Sean Riddle explained,

“We’re all apart of the family, and that’s our job, to pick up our brothers and sisters”

In such a fast-paced world, it’s easy to forget everyone is dealing with their own set of difficulties.

In no way is life easy, but it is important to look at other people’s situations with more empathy.

Yes, maybe that car that cut you off might be in a rush to see his sick wife, or maybe that rude customer might have just been dumped. Either way, we can’t predict what other people might or might not be going through.

We’ve all got to look out for one another the best we can.

The more we can act in kindness the more we can truly change the world. Sweet Glory’s legacy is exactly that. May her spirit live on forever.
