Kevin and Tisha Beauchmin have five children, but they did not hesitate to take care of three more.
Tisha, a Las Vegas bingo cashier, was approached by her neighbor, Audrey, a single mother with three children.
The woman was going to the hospital to get tested, and there was no one she could find who would look after her kids other than Tisha.
Fortunately, the kind woman understood her situation and took the kids in while Audrey went to see the doctor.
When the mother of three returned home, she told Tisha that she had Stage 2 esophageal and stomach cancer.
Audrey was devastated by the news she received, and despite not knowing each other for long, the woman asked Tisha if she would accept to be the guardian of her kids in case Audrey died.
Tisha knew in her heart the right thing to do.
Little did the women know that Audrey’s sickness would progress quickly.
She went from Stage 2 to Stage 4 quicker than everyone thought.
She sadly passed away a few months after her diagnosis, leaving Tisha with her three kids.
The Beauchmins may not be well off, but their hearts are rich with kindness, which prompted them to accept Audrey’s kids with open arms.
The kids know each other because they are used to playing with one another since they live just next door.
Tisha was brought up in an orphanage which made her more concerned about the welfare of the kids.
She knew what it felt to long for a family, and she did not want them to feel the same way she did.
While the Beauchman couple welcomed the kids into their home, whether they’d be allowed to legally adopt them remained unknown.
Their home is not designed for eight kids, but they were trying to make it happen.
They were also struggling to make ends meet.
Elizabeth Thames, a neighbor of both Tisha and Audrey, knew about their story, and she wanted to help Tisha with her current situation.
The woman sent a letter to the Fox5 Surprise Squad and recommended Tisha to be their next recipient of a life-changing surprise.
The story moved the program and decided to grant Elizabeth’s request.
The show visited Tisha and took a tour of the woman’s home.
They told her to stay in a temporary place with her family as they made the changes the woman needed.
Tisha only wished for a wall that would make the kids’ room private and look more like a real room.
However, she did not know that the program meant to do so much more for the kind mom of five.
The entire crew helped out along with various other groups in the community.
Carpets were placed, the walls were repainted, and the rooms were fixed so the kids would have privacy and comfort as they grew.
After a few days out of the house, Tisha and her family, including Audrey’s children, returned to their new home.
Seeing so many people outside was overwhelming, but nothing prepared them for the incredible transformation inside their home.
Their reactions are filled with tears, and how many people worked together to make it happen is incredible.
Apart from the incredible home they now go home to, the family was also given free groceries for a year, $1,500 for their eldest son to find a suitable apartment and a family van that would fit all of them courtesy of United Nissan.
