Cops help stranded elderly woman then convince her to join them for food
When she started her day I don't think she could have imagined it would play out like this.

Traveling alone as an elderly person can be a bit nerve-wracking. If something goes wrong, you don’t have anyone to help you out of a situation, especially if you are somewhere unfamiliar! Thankfully, most people (even our grandparents) can use a bit of technology in order to get help when they need it. For one lady in North Carolina, a phone call turned into a lunch date!

A woman driving in North Carolina was heading down I-85 when she had to pull over.

Unfortunately, she had run out of gas and her car had sputtered to a halt on the shoulder of one of the busiest highways in the state. Thankfully, she had her cell phone on her and was able to make a call to the local police, but she had no idea that she was about to make a few new friends!

When she made the call, State Troopers Linch and Coggins showed up.

The two went out to help the woman and found her stranded on the side of the highway. When they found her, Trooper Linch hopped in her car with her and waited while Trooper Coggins went out to fill a gas can to help get her car up and moving again.

Soon, the ordeal was over and nobody was hurt or injured.

It was a pretty clean interaction through and through! That wasn’t where it ended, however. After filling her car up enough to get her to a gas station, the troopers were going to head to lunch. Instead of going alone, they decided to ask the woman if she would like to join them!

She accepted!

The lunch invitation was accepted and the woman and officers soon found themselves sitting down for a meal together. Their party grew further as Troopers Foster and Gibbs arrived to snag a bite to eat alongside their friends! Their merry crew was now 5 people strong.

While the group was at lunch, Andrea King Lowe, a local resident, saw what was going on and came up to them.

Asking what was cause for the lunch, she heard the story of the help provided by the troopers and how it turned into an unexpected lunch! To commemorate the moment, she snapped a photo and posed it on Facebook. As you can imagine, it soon went viral with over 2.8k likes and 4.7k shares across the platform.

People all over loved how helpful the troopers were AND how wonderful the lunch was.

It was a cute moment that was commemorated with a picture that showcases just how nice people can be. Things often seem polarized in the world today, but a few officers having lunch with an old lady who needed help seems like a wonderful way for us all to remember our humanity together. And, who doesn’t love lunch?!
