Having a child go missing is one of the most terrifying things that a parent can go through. For three parents, their worst fears came true when two six-year-olds and a seven-year-old went missing in the Sam Houston National Forest.
Police got a call after three kids were presumed lost in the forest overnight.
The three boys had left their home to go play and never came back. When the parents of the kids realized they couldn’t find them, panic set in. With a quick call to authorities, searches were underway.
Sam Houston National Forest is 255 square miles and the kids could be anywhere inside.
Once the details about the kid’s last known location was dispersed, multiple agencies started searching. They were probably playing at a well-known trail near a dry creek but when they took a wrong turn, soon became lost.
Incredibly, it wasn’t even a governmental authority who ended up finding the children!

When a local resident heard about the missing children, he took off in search of them himself. He knew the area well and frequented the woods. He knew them better than most of the police did!
Setting off in the morning, the anonymous volunteer first spotted the kids around 9:30 am that morning.

Once the man found them, however, it was another thing to get them out. The area has poor cell service and he wasn’t able to call the authorities to let them know he had found them! Finally, he was able to get a call through to 911 and they triangulated his position from there.
When the police finally met the boys, they were absolutely hilarious!
For three kids who just spend the night lost in the woods, they seemed incredibly calm – albeit a bit hungry!
Smith then address the kids, saying “I’m the police. Are y’all ready to get out of the woods?”
One of the children is heard saying “I’m really hungry right now.”
They had taken shelter in a fallen tree and remember that their parents said if they ever get lost to stay in the same area and stop moving. That advice seems to have worked out in their favor!
In final words, Officer Smith hands them off to the first responders to get medical checks in place.
Officer Smith’s final words to the boys?
“Hey, remind them about those cheeseburgers okay.”
It seems like the thing that really bothered those boys the most was missing out on a few meals! Since the bodycam footage has been released, people have been laughing at just how silly the boys were!
