A Green Bay police officer named Darryl Robinson went above and beyond his duties when he took a little boy to McDonald’s on his birthday after no one picked him up from school.

Officer Robinson works for the Green Bay Police Department; he received a call from a local elementary school about a young boy that hadn’t been picked up at the end of the school day. As it turns out, the elementary school’s student’s parents were both in jail. The school had no other contacts for the student.

After arriving at the school, Officer Robinson spoke with the child and found out that it was his birthday. Hearing this broke the officer’s heart and he wanted to try and help cheer the boy up. He had an idea that would make any young boy super excited.

While police tried to locate the kid’s parents, Officer Robinson gave him a ride in his cruiser and trip to McDonald’s for a birthday treat.

McDonald’s was kind enough to donate free burger coupons to both the boy and the police officer. Eventually, the child was reunited with his family. The Green Bay Police Department took to Facebook to commend the officer for his actions.

“Yesterday Officer Robinson responded to a local elementary school for a child that was not picked up at the end of the school day. The parent is incarcerated and there were no other known family contacts. It was also the child’s birthday.
Thanks to the owners of our local McDonald’s, we were given free cheeseburger coupons to hand out in certain situations. Officer Robinson took the child for a meal at McDonald’s and a ride around in the police car for his birthday. Family was eventually located and the child was dropped off.
Thank you to community partners, like McDonald’s, that allow us to help out others in small ways during our interactions throughout the shifts. Thank you to Officer Robinson for taking some extra time to celebrate the child’s birthday; we are proud to have him as part of the GBPD team!”

Officer Robinson’s kind actions were shared on Facebook over 3,600 times, and people from all across the country gave him a virtual pat on the back.
