A lot of adults misunderstand teenagers. At their age, they are often treated like kids but expected to behave like adults. This is one good reason why older people sometimes feel like they are from different planets.

One 14-year-old boy proved that teenagers can actually behave like adults.

Independence Police Department’s Officer Joe Holt saw the teen and the kind gesture he made as he was sitting in his vehicle. The young man left the back seat of the vehicle he was in and went to approach an elderly female who was trying to get back to her car.

It was raining at that time.

As a way to protect the elderly woman, the boy took off his coat and placed it over her shoulder. Then, he helped her make her way through the parking lot.

The officer followed the teen and there, he approached his mom to tell her what her kind son did. At first, she was a bit worried that her son had done something wrong since the officer was wearing his uniform.

In an interview with ABC News, he shared:

“I told his mom that she has done amazing with him and I hope and pray he goes places. She started tearing up, because I was a cop and took time out of my day to call him out on what I witnessed.”

Officer Joe wanted to get back in touch with the teenager.

That’s why he took his search to social media in hopes of locating the young man. He planned on rewarding him for his kind gesture.

The story went viral.
