This may sound cliché, but it’s true.

It’s better to give than receive.

As the holiday season approaches, people are starting to do their Christmas preparations like putting up decorations, buying gifts for the much-awaited Kris Kringle.

They’re rushing to grocery stores to buy everything on their Christmas shopping list, and much more.

Unfortunately, not every household can afford to do such in preparation, let alone on Christmas day itself.

Thankfully, Christmas is all about giving and that’s exactly what happened in this heartwarming video.

Get your tissues ready, you might need them.

East Idaho News and “Secret Santa”

The news channel has been doing its traditional Secret Santa program since 2015 and this year, their anonymous Secret Santa wants them to give $1M away to deserving people.

For those who are curious about Secret Santa, he is a real person and a native Idahoan who lives in eastern Idaho.

The money that the East Idaho News team is getting actually comes from him and not from some organization, charity group, or some program.

All of the recipients of Secret Santa’s gifts are recorded and posted on the East Idaho News YouTube channel.

The news team is on a roll.

You won’t believe what they have in store from this year’s Secret Santa.

Just recently, Secret Santa’s elves were tasked to bless an 84-year-old woman named Phyllis.

She lives alone in a low-income senior citizen apartment complex.

Unfortunately, her truck needed to be serviced just recently and it cost her a decent amount of money.

Despite her age, she goes to the gym every day and people are always saying, “I can’t believe that she is 84 and still goes to the gym.”

Everyone who knows her would tell you that she’s a woman with such a positive aura.

Phyllis, despite having not much in life, always tries her best to help other people.

She brings so much happiness to people and she deserves nothing but to be rewarded for her kindness.

Knock knock.

“We wish you a Merry Christmas. We wish you a Merry Christmas. We wish you a Merry Christmas… And a happy new year!”

The East Idaho News team surprised Phyllis with a cheerful Christmas song to which the 84-year-old woman responded with a warm smile.

Although, the elderly gym goer was a bit puzzled at first and said, “What are you doing in my door?” Nate responded by saying, “We came to give you some Christmas gifts.”

They weren’t joking.

They started off by giving her a little Christmas tree and just at that, Phyllis became emotional.

She probably couldn’t believe that one day, she’d wake up to such a wonderful surprise.

Surprise, surprise.

Apart from the Christmas tree, Nate also told Phyllis that they know she goes to the gym every day and that they know she’s 84 years old.

“How do you know all that?” the Secret Santa recipient asked.

Phyllis is East Idaho’s “Gnomie”.

They also presented her with a Christmas gnome, a sign that says “Gnome for the holidays,” and a nice blanket.

Phyllis just couldn’t believe what was happening and it made her speechless yet thankful deep inside.

After a few chit-chats, they finally gave the biggest surprise of all.

$3,000 in Fred Meyer gift cards.

And that’s when she started to cry because of so much joy.

Although she didn’t end up knowing the identity of the Secret Santa, Phyllis was indeed the happiest person that day.

To show her gratitude to the Secret Santa’s elves, she gave each one of them a warm hug.

When asked what she wanted to tell Secret Santa she said, “I don’t know who you are but I really do love you, Merry Christmas. Thank you Santa, it means an awful lot to me.”
