No one’s too young to be a champion
Each of us has something we’re passionate about. With continuous practice, almost everything is possible. There’s never a dream too big as long as we work hard on it. Watch how these two college students win at a national dance competition.
This young couple confidently enters the NSDC stage
Their names are Ivy Claire Huiet and Johnathan Kemp. The duo entered participated in the 2020 National Shag Dancing Competition, in the Junior II Division. They are still studying in college yet, when they put on their dance attires, they become completely different people. Not only do they look stunning, but the moment the music plays, their graceful dance moves will just blow your mind.
They were welcomed with lively cheers as they entered the stage
They were given some time to present themselves to the audience. They both posed with a vibrant smile before they began their performance. Before the announcer even finished introducing them to the crowd, Kemp already has his arms wrapped around his partner’s waist and both are ready to go anytime.
The magic happened the moment the music started playing
It started with a simple one-two step but what followed that was just amazing. It became a series of fancy and intricate series of footwork all of a sudden. Although, what you should admire is not only how they were able to execute them, but also how they were perfectly synchronized. You could just imagine all the effort they put into their practice.
Kemp captures the spotlight with his routines as the lead
Kemp definitely had great skills as the lead. He was able to shine on stage with his flashy dance moves, all the while not putting a shadow over his partner’s performance. You can’t just get enough with his smooth slides and graceful spins.
Kemp was even given the chance to hog the spotlight with a few seconds of a solo performance. With a guy as tall as him, you would notice how emphasized his movements are, but not so much that it becomes exaggerating.
Huiet’s elegant movements contributed a lot to their performance
Huiet had that graceful dancer’s aura from her. With her elegance injected in her every movement, she refuses to have the spotlight taken away from her. You could see how great she is in the supporting role, although she had her own moments too where she shone the most. Even with the noticeable height difference between her and her partner, she was able to dance like a star.
It all ended with them receiving the treatment they deserve
The stage exploded with cheers. The crowd gave their loudest claps, hollers, and whistles with big and awestruck smiles on their faces. As for Kemp and Huiet, they looked very relieved hearing all the positive responses after their performance. They hugged each other before they exited the stage.
Their spectacular performance won the internet as well
As much as they have racked attention on that stage, their performance also wowed their online audience. Upon upload, the video already accumulated over sixty thousand views on YouTube. There are a few people who left a comment, but almost all of them are compliments. As more time passes, surely more people will fall in love with these two.
They went home as Champions
Kemp and Huiet’s chemistry on their performance was just amazing. They were able to communicate perfectly on stage and used that to execute the routine flawlessly. After that stellar performance, the two were awarded as the winners in their division. Surely, everyone is satisfied having them go home with the trophy.
