City builds tiny village for homeless veterans so they can have a secure place to call home for free
This is a wonderful idea for the many veterans that unfortunately end up homeless on the streets.

Our veterans have demonstrated countless times that when the going gets tough, they are always there to have our backs and keep us safe from harm’s way. A group of veterans in Kansas City have initiated a project that has caused a massive positive change in lending a helping hand to these vets in need.

Having the power to give back to the community is one of the most humbling and rewarding experiences anyone can be a part of. It involves hard work, diligence, but most importantly, a huge heart that is passionate about making a true difference in the lives of others. Whether it’s picking up your local neighborhood trash or setting up an event for your church, no good deed goes unturned in the eyes of those who most receive it.

One of the most, if not, the most giving group of people could be considered the men and women of the armed forces. Their sacrifice each and every day requires a resounding amount of strength and valor.

A group of members from the Veterans Community Project in Kansas City received the surprise of a lifetime when the city decided to take its first steps to improve the lives of homeless war heroes by constructing new homes for them.

In response to the many generous donations made from community members, The Veterans Village was built in order to accommodate for those veterans who unfortunately do not have shelter to go to.

The project turned out to have a huge startup success. Immediately, contracts and committees were appointed in order to delegate responsibilities as to the area needed for construction, management of the site, and an overall layout of the village as a whole.

The village is comprised of about 50 separate homes with each being about the size of a studio apartment. Each person occupying the home is given food and necessary things to maintain hygiene. In addition, the veterans are afforded security, privacy, and a quiet pace of life.

Not to mention, the area will include a central community center where a variety of activities will occur such as weekly classes, health and wellness counseling, and also private sessions to help veterans resolve and cope with their trauma.

The project was entirely organized, funded, and driven by veterans for veterans. Although not an original concept, the idea that tiny homes can serve as a way to help resolve the issue of displaced veterans really does go a long way in helping to address some of the issues plaguing America’s streets.

It’s been long overdue since our veterans received the help they deserve. Even more surprising is the fact that this all started as a privately funded organization that had to build itself from the ground up. Now, they can provide these veterans with job opportunities and educational capabilities to readjust to the civilian lifestyle.

“Practically it was four of us that said it was going to happen. It was us throwing money at it, asking for help, hitting faebook and people saying alright here’s 20 bucks, here’s 30 bucks,” said one of the founders named Chris.

“I want to start out by saying thank you Kansas City. You’ve given us everything that we’ve had. And just as support, we’re giving back to guys. And that’s what it’s about to us.” said community project manager, Brandonn Mixon.

A closer look at the units demonstrates exactly how efficiently one can imagine living. It’s not the most comfortable, but at least it gets the job done.

Looking at these units, we can see they come with a myriad of amenities perfectly fit to give each veteran exactly what they need for each and everyday life. The exquisite kitchen is fitted with a 4 stove electric burner as well as a microwave, full refrigerator, and even kitchen sink.

Furthermore, the unit also includes a stylish hardwood bathroom with smooth a long cabinet to fit more bathroom items underneath.

Finally, the rooms come equipped with a fine twin-sized bed that is sizeable enough to properly fit any person slightly over 6 feet tall. As we can see, it comes equipped with a dash of patriotism and a sprinkle of a flat-screen television.
