Remember the ABC show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition? Every Sunday we would all get excited to cry hysterically for an hour as Ty Pennington presented a needy family with a newly renovated home free of cost.

Watching this thing was a cathartic experience.

You cried so hard that you’d literally go through an entire box of tissues. HGTV’s Fixer Upper featuring Chip and Joanna Gaines also helps a family select “the worst house in the best neighborhood” to remodel it within the family’s budget.

However, the Gaines’ teamed up with former NFL quarterback and current New York Mets outfielder Tim Tebow to create an “Extreme Makeover” experience for one family who has children with disabilities.

Melissa and Jody Copp have two sons, 9-year-old Calan, and 5-year-old Lawson, who both use wheelchairs. So, they need to make sure their home was compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) so their home was fully wheelchair accessible.

The Gaines’ joined forces with the Tim Tebow Foundation to completely transform a Waco, TX home for the family.

“Our goal at the Tim Tebow Foundation is to fight for people that can’t fight for themselves,” Tebow told HGTV. “And we really believe this family needs us to come behind them and support them, to love them and to have their back.”

In addition to the ADA designs, their home was filled with the Gaines’ signature custom elements that really made their house feel like a home.

The Make-a-Wish Foundation also pitched in to create a wheelchair-friendly backyard.

“To see my boys, with all the hardships that they’ve gone through, and to know that Tim and Chip and Joanna — and everyone at Make A Wish — came together to let my boys just be boys…I’m so happy,” Jody Copp told HGTV.

After the show aired, the Gaines’ took to Instagram to ask their followers to donate in order to help the family pay off their mortgage.

They raised enough money for the family within two days!

“Y’all.. we did it! The Copp family’s mortgage has been paid in full,” Chip Gaines wrote on his Instagram page. ” Thanks for teaming up with us to get this thing finished! Their lives are forever changed because of you.”
