Having childhood friends is important. It promotes a sense of belongingness and security. Plus, it also improves your emotional and social skills.
For Krystal Watson and Jennifer Tindell, having a childhood friend was life-changing.
The two met each other while they were in second grade. Eventually, they had to go on separate ways for more than 30 years.
Jennifer lives in Waco while Krystal lives in Clute.
Even though their lives drifted apart, fate managed to bring them back to each other. And while the reason isn’t that great, it’s still a blessing that they were able to reconnect.
Krystal got diagnosed with a kidney problem.
And to solve her health problem and be healthy and well again, she needed a kidney transplant. The journey was tough. She even posted about it on social media.
Her condition continued to deteriorate.
In fact, her kidney function dropped to 11%. This placed her at risk of so many complications, including edema, anemia, and even death.
Unfortunately, most of the people close to her weren’t a match.
Even her husband didn’t meet the requirements for the procedure. That’s when she decided to ask for help through social media.
When Jennifer heard about Krystal’s problem, she felt the need to help.
In an interview with Khou 11, she shared:
“I just felt compelled. I felt like God was just telling me you know just reach out. What’s it gonna hurt?”
Jennifer had to go through several tests.
After everything, she found out that she was a good match for her childhood friend. Upon hearing the result, she didn’t doubt the next step she should take.
In an interview with Inside Edition, she shared:
“I didn’t think that in a million years that I would you know get approved. You know, that would be such a perfect match.”
Krystal was speechless after learning what her friend was willing to do for her.
Donating one’s kidney isn’t an easy decision to make. That’s why she considers her friend as her ‘angel’.
The operation was successful.
Both women were able to get back to their normal lives. They even got to spend the holiday season with the best people in their lives.
Finding someone willing to donate their own kidney is hard.
It’s like giving a part of you that you can never get back.
It can be depressing and stressful for those who aren’t ready to commit to something so serious.
Fortunately, Krystal was lucky enough to have someone like Jennifer in her life.
Even if she’s just a friend and she’s not related to her in any way by blood, she’s still willing to commit just to save another person’s life. You don’t get to meet people like that all the time.
In the same interview, she shared:
“I’m so glad that you were in my life. I’m glad that I found you and I can’t ever thank you enough.”
