You never know who or what is going to heal a broken heart, and for this man, his savior came in the form of a little 7-pound chihuahua who ended up saving his life. Now, instead of forgetting who helped him, he’s started a little dog sanctuary where he’s saved dozens of pooches with special needs.
This is the definition of paying it forward!
It’s not just big dogs who save humans lives, just ask Bobby Humphrey, whose little chihuahua, Lady, turned out to be a lifesaver
Little dogs don’t always get the credit of bigger breeds when it comes to saving people’s lives, but this story proves that they’re just as capable of being someone’s saving grace.
It all started when Bobby’s marriage ended suddenly, leaving him distraught, heartbroken, and even with thoughts of taking his own life.
“I lost faith in humanity. I got weak. I wanted to end it. One person, above all, Connie, kept me on this planet. True friend that was always there. In fact, she wouldn’t leave me alone long enough to do what I wanted to do. She literally just wouldn’t go away no matter how much I told her to. She lost to that before and wasn’t going to lose me,” said Bobby.
That’s when his friend, Connie, asked him to look after her little chihuahua, Lady, and it changed Bobby’s entire life
He wasn’t really a small dog person, and Lady had a reputation for hating everyone, but Bobby told his friend Connie he would take her in any way. What he didn’t know, was that the 7-pound chihuahua had a loving heart that would mend his invisible wounds.
“Connie admitted that she was very protective of both her and her son and that she didn’t really like people. Especially men. So, honestly, I just steered clear of her until this point,” Bobby said of Lady.
With Bobby still struggling to cope, it was like little Lady sensed it and began showering him with loving cuddles
When Connie came back to visit, she couldn’t believe how fast Bobby and Lady had bonded. After all, this was the dog who “hates everyone” according to Connie.
At first, Bobby thought he was the one saving Lady, but he quickly realized it was the other way around. Just when he needed it most, Lady came into his life and made him happy again but she couldn’t stay forever…
That’s when Connie was able to take Lady back, and Bobby decided he wanted to do something more to help little dogs
It started with Bobby taking in a chihuahua named Kira, but before long, he took in two more dogs in need named Harley and Quinn.
From there, Bobby continued adopting little dogs, it was his way of giving back after Lady helped mend his broken heart.
And so Bobby’s rescue, Big Guy, Littles World Sanctuary was born…
Bobby started an organization that rescues little dogs called Big Guy, Littles World Sanctuary. At first, money was hindering him from helping as many dogs as he thought he could, but once the word got out about what he was doing donations started pouring in.
