Hollywood is a tricky business, especially for young actors chasing their big break. For actors jumping from one job to another, meeting someone is easy. The hard part is making it last.
While there are plenty of tales of storybook love in Hollywood, many famous couples have failed to make it work. Which of these famous couples is your favorite?”
Will and Jada Pinkett Smith
Will met Jada on the set of his hit television show, The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, in the 90s. She was auditioning for the role of his girlfriend that time in 1995.
Jada didn’t get the part, but she nabbed Smith’s attention. The two were friends first, then dated, and later wed in a lavish ceremony in 1997.
They have two children, Jaden and Willow. Smith has another son, Trey, and they are still solid to this day.
The one thing they agreed on in interviews about their long-lasting 20-plus years is that “trust” and “openness” get them through the hard times.
Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen
In 1993, while working on the set of Pontiac Moon, Ted Danson met Mary Steenburgen, whom he later married in 1995.
The couple worked on a few projects together, including the acclaimed miniseries Gulliver’s Travels.
More than 20 years later, Ted and Mary are as close as ever, based on Danson’s many photos on social media.
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson’s story dates back to three decades. They first met in 1981 when Wilson appeared on an episode of Hanks’ sitcom, Bosom Buddies.
At the time, Hanks was already a husband to college sweetheart, Samantha Lewes, as well as the father of Colin Hanks.
The stars aligned when the two reconnected on the set of Volunteers in 1985.
Hanks and Wilson tied the knot on April 30, 1988.
“Our relationship isn’t magic — the way it’s shown in movies. In real life, our connection is as concrete as me sitting here. We both know that no matter what, we’ll be with each other — and we’ll get through it,” Hanks told Oprah Winfrey when he was asked on the secret of their longevity.
Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell
One of the coolest couples in Hollywood, Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn have been together for what seems like ages.
They aren’t married, which many don’t realize, but it really works for the adorable pair.
Oddly enough, the two met on the set of a Disney film called, The One And Only, Genuine, Original Family Band.
Russell was 16 at the time and Hawn was 21, but nothing happened. Fate had other plans for them.
They were in another movie, 1983’s Swing Shift, and since then have been together ever since.
They have a son, Wyatt, and raised two of Hawn’s kids from her previous relationship, Kate and Oliver Hudson.
Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan
Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan are still together after 30-plus years of marriage. That is shocking considering how it all started.
They met on the set of Family Ties. Pollan was in a five-year relationship with actor Kevin Bacon at the time, while Fox was dating Facts of Life star Nancy McKeon.
And this is where serendipity stepped in. Fox was fast becoming a Hollywood megastar thanks to Back to the Future. He and McKeon broke up after his schedule became too hectic.
Pollan had ended things with Bacon as he was shooting the play Lemon Sky, the same one where Bacon met his future wife.
So when Fox found out, he called Pollan. They were married by summer 1988.
Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor
Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor met on the set of the television short Heat Vision and Jack, a pilot for Fox that didn’t get picked up.
It was a disappointment professionally, but personally it was life-changing, as the two fell for each other. They were married in 2000 and had two kids.
Stiller and Taylor worked together often, appearing in such films as Dodgeball, Zoolander, and Tropic Thunder.
But after 17 years of marriage, the couple separated in 2017.
Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher
Fans can’t get enough of actor/comedian Sacha Baron Cohen and his wife, adorable actress Isla Fisher.
She stole hearts as the sex-crazed maniac who was after Vince Vaughn’s character in Wedding Crashers.
Cohen himself is considered a master satire writer, and he portrays the oddball characters Ali G, Borat, and Bruno really well.
Seems like an odd match, with him at 6’3” and her a whopping 10 inches shorter, but it works for the couple.
They were married in 2010 and have three children.
Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys
Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys met on the set of The Americans, where both played married Russian spies. Their off-set romance was kept secret as if it were an FBI file, not going public until 2014.
Their connection began a decade prior, and it involved sports and alcohol.
“She asked me to open a beer,” Rhys told Andy Cohen of Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, with Russell saying it happened “after a kickball party.”
Russell was reminded of the encounter when they began the show. That show may be over, but Russell and Rhys are not.
The couple welcomed a son back in 2016.
Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany
Hollywood seemingly has “beautiful” people get together all the time. But what happens when two beautiful minds meet?
That’s the case with Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany who met on the set of A Beautiful Mind in 2001 and got married just two years later.
They had two kids, one in 2003 and another in 2011.
Both Connelly and Bettany have crossed into the world of superheroes: Connelly in Hulk and Bettany in a series of The Avengers movies.
That love will surely continue to be super for a long time.
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr.
Sarah Michelle Gellar, popularly known from Buffy the Vampire Slayer television fame, met Freddie Prinze Jr. on the set of the summer blockbuster horror movie I Know What You Did Last Summer in 1997.
The romance didn’t begin until a few years later, but hey sure made it count.
The wedding followed in 2002, and the couple have a boy and a girl together, Charlotte Grace and Rocky James.
Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon
Kevin Bacon was the name taking over Hollywood in the mid-80s thanks to box office successes Diner and Footloose.
And yet it was a low-frills PBS production where Bacon met his future spouse, Kyra Sedgwick.
The couple met on the set of Lanford Wilson’s play, Lemon Sky, which debuted in February 1988. They were married on September 4 of that same year.
Bacon said of the relationship, “The time I was hitting what I considered to be bottom was also the time I met my wife, our kids were born, good things were happening. And I was able to keep supporting myself; that always gave me strength.”
Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis
These two are as popular and as good-looking as stars get. The first kiss was in 1998, on the set of That ’70s Show, on which both starred in.
The two remained good friends, even dating other people during and after their stint on the show.
It was when Kutcher and Demi Moore divorced in 2013, that sparks between Kunis and him began to fly again.
In 2015, they got married in Oak Glen, California.
Kutcher and Kunis welcomed a baby the autumn before and then another child in November 2016.
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively met while working on The Green Lantern, but at the time, both were romantically attached.
Reynolds was still married to Scarlet Johansson and Lively was with her Gossip Girl boyfriend Penn Badgley.
When their former relationships wrapped, they found each other, this time for life.
“I knew he would always be my best friend for my whole life. That was the biggest thing to me. I could like him as much as I loved him,” Lively told Marie Claire.
The couple been married since September 2012 and have two daughters together.
Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux
Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux met on the set of Tropic Thunder in 2007. But they didn’t give in to their feelings until Wanderlust in 2010.
Theroux was in a relationship with stylist Heidi Bivens until 2011. Then they shacked up in Hollywood and gave it a go, making things officially public.
The two married in 2015 in a top-secret ceremony at their home.
It wasn’t meant to be. They separated in February 2018 in a very gentle way, according to Theroux. “It was kind of the most gentle separation, in that there was no animosity,” he told The New York Times.
Jen is hopeful about dating again, while Theroux is rumored to be seeing his Spider-Man: Homecoming co-star Laura Harrier.
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton met each other on The Voice in April 2014, as they were both going through divorces.
They began making beautiful music in a lip sync battle on The Tonight Show, singing “Endless Love.”
In 2015, Shelton divorced Miranda Lambert, with Stefani doing the same with hubby Gavin Rossdale. There was no doubt that the couple of country and a little bit of rock ‘n roll would connect.
Co-star, Adam Levine commented on their love, telling Howard Stern, “They are so in love it’s disgusting.”
Fans are pushing Shelton to put a ring on it, but there’s no rock in sight yet.
Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield
What a tangled web we weave. Will this relationship last, or will it end up as memories of romances past?
This famous on-screen romantic couple got together in 2011 as co stars in The Amazing Spider-Man. Spidey and Gwen Stacy soon took their romance off-screen.
Movie and comic book fans loved the budding romance, calling it as one of the best celebrity romances ever.
The couple would often photobomb each other or play with their adopted dog.
In addition, they planned a wedding in Rome which was once set for summer 2015.
But like Spidey’s complicated life on-screen, there are unexpected curves to deal with. The couple reportedly broke up in the winter or spring of 2015.
Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman
Here’s another case of life imitating art. This couple first met in 2000, when both were rehearsing for a play called The Berlin Circle.
Romance soon blossomed, and the two wed in 2003. Offerman has guest-starred on Will & Grace, which Mullally starred in.
Later on, Mullally guest-starred with Offerman on his TV show, Parks and Recreation, playing less-than-amicable exes who can’t control their lust around each other.
Both are very amicable though, and even considered one of Hollywood’s happiest couples.
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos
The talk show host met the handsome actor back in the 90s. It took place at a screen test for the long-running soap opera All My Children.
The two were smitten with each immediately, and they ended up playing lovers on TV, he as Mateo Santos and she as Hayley Vaughan. “I thought she was adorable, hot, and sexy, and all that stuff,” Consuelos told HuffPost Live. “I never thought about getting married,”
Ripa told Good Housekeeping. “It never occurred to me that I would grow old with someone. When I saw the photograph of him, I saw my entire future with him flash before [my eyes].”
The couple eloped in May 1996 with three camera-ready children today.
Tea Leoni and Tim Daly
Actress Téa Leoni is dating co-star Tim Daly, her onscreen husband on Madam Secretary.
They had more in common than they thought as the two both went to the Putney School, a prep and boarding school in Vermont.
The couple graduated 10 years apart. “We had a few of the same teachers, which is really crazy,” said Daly.
Lea Michele and Cory Monteith
This romance had a sad ending. Lea Michele and Cory Monteith started a romance after they met on the set of the hit TV series Glee.
For two years, the couple was happy together and very serious about their relationship.
But then tragedy struck as Monteith died of a drug overdose in July 2013 at the age of 31.
