Has anyone ever done something nice for you that completely turned your day around? It’s such an amazing thing when that happens. It reminds you there are good people in the world. It may even make you want to go out of your way to do something nice for someone else.
Paying it forward is great. That’s especially true during these difficult and trying times. The good news… there are people going above and beyond to make sure we remember this very important lesson.
Like an employee at a Miami Valley Meijer
You don’t have to be a superhero to make someone’s day. You can be just a regular person going about your life. One Miami Valley Meijer employee turned a little boy’s day around when she did something sweet for him and his mom.
The little boy asked a question
Little kids always want to act like adults even though most of the time, parents can’t let them try everything they want to do. A little boy named Paul wanted to help out with the groceries. So, he asked the cashier if he could assist.
She said yes
Kristen Clark, the Meijer employee, knew she could brighten this little boy’s day simply by telling him he could help. So, that’s what she did. She wanted to make sure he had a positive experience at the store.
Kristen helped him up
Since Paul is still quite young, he can’t quite reach the register by himself. So, Kristen helped him up to make sure he could see what she was doing.
She showed him the basics
Kristen didn’t just go through the motions, either. She showed him how to scan the codes. You can tell by the look on his face he had a lot of fun learning a new skill.
It was a difficult time for the family
Part of the reason Kristen felt like she should help out is because of something Kimberly, Paul’s mom, said. She told Kristen her other child was in the hospital. She was going through a hard time dealing with it, and so was her son.
Kristen understood
We all go through difficult things in life, and Kristen is no exception. She says she understands hard situations. At one point, her mother was sick. So, naturally, she felt compassion for this family.
Kimberly took a picture
Of course, this was a really sweet moment, something Kimberly wanted to capture. While she was at the store she took a picture of her son with Kristen. It’s an adorable shot. In it, Paul looks super excited to be a helper.
She shared the picture on Facebook
Kimberly just wanted to share the story with family and friends. But she couldn’t believe what happened next. The story went viral. Now, it’s all over the internet.
Kristen didn’t expect it
Kristen wasn’t being nice to Paul because she wanted to get something out of it. The last thing she expected was for her act of kindness to go viral. It’s incredible she’s getting recognition for simply for doing something sweet for another person. She should be an inspiration to us all.
